Journey 1998 Pittsburgh Concert

If you can ignore the skipping, there's some great stuff here. Miss this lineup. Neal's style of playing was also much cleaner. He knew when to shred and when to let a solo breathe.

Thanks much for this.
At the time the concert became a blur, dont remember much. Saw them live around this time in a 3000 seat arena in Saint Paul.
The highlights were hearing Castles Burning, One More, and WYLAW live.

Augeri in his prime could sing. And seeing in new videos he can still can.

It took me a little bit to warm up to Deen, as his playing style to me seems polar opposite to Smith, but man he could sing.
He owns all the high parts.

How many rock bands have a drummer that can sing the high parts?

Yea, Augeri kills it here. As for Deen's style...I felt the same way. But now that Smitty is back, I miss Deen.

Funny, TNC, I was just listening to Arrival for the first time in years (at least front to back) and concluded that Neal was at his absolute peak at this time. Like you said, perfect balance or shred and melodic playing, great tone, tasteful fills, etc. -- everything that makes prime Neal such a monster player.

True,

but in the opening song Sep Ways its so cool you can hear Deen's voice so clearly higher than Augeri. (Whos sings pretty high already)
I would assume it would be easier to sing higher over Jack Blades and Glen Frey (RIP).
