Long time Journey fan here, Have seem them in all their incarnations..
This may be the lamest I've ever viewed?.. A song simulation...

Seems like a track in the background varying up/down in intensity, The band does not appear to be playing together but simply trying to stay with the track. No eye contact, zero emotion except when RV hit a bass riff..

Arnel semi panic-jumping back to the mic is pretty much a giveaway, SS on drums seems to be locked into hearing a click and disconnected from the rest of the band.. I'd wager NS's vocals were not even in the mix...

You are simply incorrect.
Example - here in Separate Ways the vocal is mostly live but at 2:22-2:225 it briefly switches to an auto-tuned track from the Vegas 2001 DVD.
I imagine a vocal track is beneath the lead singer (or the band) like a click track. The sound guy can cue it up or down as needed.

It's literally from the Vegas DVD, (which was autotuned), and sounds nothing like the rest of the mostly live SW lead vocal.
This 2004 concert vid is full of moments such as these. The worst is "Send Her My Love", which is 100% from the Vegas DVD 100%.

Having recently seen Hugo a few months ago, I would say they have a better set-list. Journey official has them beat by a hair with with Smitty and Neal.

Saw the Stones on this current tour. They looked like they were having the time of their lives. I think that's the difference between a band that actually enjoy each other's company and talents, and a band that is just mailing it in for the paycheck. No one has had more drama and upset than the Rolling Stones. Yet, after all of these years, they are able to go out and really enjoy what the crowd gives them. Maybe the key is the limited number of dates. Who knows.

Based on recent FB pics, most of the band share a dressing room while Neal has his own private dressing room. Neal is also on tour with his own private photographer. Even if the vibes were good (which I doubt), primadonna behavior like this will create a rift.

Yeah. Stones tours are less of a grind, they have multiple days off between every gig. But also, even though they're probably tired of playing those songs a little, the arrangements aren't as rigid as a Journey song...the sort of "organized chaos" of the guitar interplay is what makes the Stones interesting, and probably what keeps them engaged every night, and Mick doesn't have to sing every note exactly the same every night either, the way Arnel does. But also I think Keith just loves being in the Stones, and being onstage, and even if him and Mick aren't getting along offstage, I think his enthusiasm for performing pushes everyone else onstage, regardless of what's happening outside of the gigs.

It's a very different thing with Journey...they're on autopilot. No one has to listen to anyone else onstage, because they play and sing the exact same parts every night.

Not sure. Watching the full video, there are all sorts of issues with the audio syncing with the video. One person I would love to get caught is Frankie Valli.The guy isn't lipping, but uses so much auto-tune. Total fraud.

Frankie Valli is the most obvious of all time. I refuse to tell my father who still thinks he is singing those high notes.

Agreed. Besides the fact that the video has a LOT of syncing issues, they band has been VERY vocal & proud of the fact that they don't use tracks, or even clicks with the Lambert shows. - Sure, a lot of these rockers have said that and been hypocritical after the fact, but I don't think that's the case here.

Even if true, this was a televised event for MSNBC. The networks sometimes insist on a sync track to guard against technical failures. Doesn't mean the band does it routinely.

You can hear Arnel's voice singing the melody in the backing track when he has the audience sing along during the chorus. Arnel is not miming vocals here. It's just a stacked vocal backing track that the band recorded.

Would have to agree. I totally enjoy catching a DSB show when I'm in Cali. Always great set lists. They played my all time fave journey song Still They Ride at one of the shows and was great to hear it live again after all this time.
