He did not take this seriously. Trump said this would not make it to the US because China was doing a good job containing it. Then he said there were only a few cases and they would be over soon. Then he said it would be over by Easter. He said one day it would disappear, like a miracle. He said when the weather warmed up, it would go away, like the flu. He compared it to the flue and said there are 50,000 - 100,000 deaths with the flu back when there were only a few hundred covid deaths. He said it doesn't affect children because they have such strong immune systems.

This was all BULLSHIT, and he knew it...and he admitted it to Woodward on those tapes when he said played down the virus, that it was MORE contagious than the flu...five times more deadly, he remarked how easily it is transmitted and that all you have to do is breathe it in. He told Woodward that they knew it infected children

Amidst all of this knowledge, he pushed for states to reopen. He supported protesters with their "liberate" movements to have restrictions removed. He demanded schools reopen or states would lose various federal funds. Even though the experts he surrounded himself with promoted wearing a mask and social distancing, he refused to model that behavior himself. He turned mask wearing and social distancing into a political issue and not a medical issue.

I made a post sometime shortly after this article was written that Trump was at a crossroads and would have to make a choice. He could choose to fight the virus and encourage the shutdown and delay any economic comeback, or he could encourage states to open up their economy. I said either way he loses...he either loses the economy or he kills people. He choose to kill people. That was HIS choice - to kill people to save the economy and attempt to be reelected by the economy. He is responsible for tens of thousands of people dying of this virus...and if he loses the election - this will the major reason why.

Trump failed the American people by putting his reelection above American lives. He could have come out with a national mask mandate. He never did. He could have required industry to mobilize and manufacture PPE, ventilators, etc. He could have put a federal system to order and deliver PPE and ventilators in an orderly and fair way. He didn't. He could have had a federal response to track down and quarantine those exposed to the virus. He didn't.

There was absolutely NO federal response to this virus other then the travel bans from China (which had leaks), and Europe (which was too late). That was it...he did NOTHING else. He did not shut down the economy or close schools - governers did. In fact, the federal government encouraged the opposite.

It's nuts to try to compare what would have happen if Biden were President compared to Trump. Trump barely did anything to stop this. Biden's response would have been MUCH different...just considering the FACT that he was in government during SARS, H1N1 and Ebola...and knew the pros/cons of various actions and non-actions. I have no clue what the number of deaths would be...but I doubt VERY much that it would be 200,000 as it is now...and I have my doubts that it will be over until there are at least 500,000 dead sometime next year....even WITH a vaccine.

You are very naive, repeating what Trump says. Whatever happened to your idea that this was just a seasonal virus and would be gone by the election? You are far too easily swayed by what comes out of conservative media.

The CDC has been saying we should be wearing masks for MONTHS now. This isn't some new thing. It is ridiculous for you to even imply that this is some new revelation.

Also, he is specifically commenting on the lowering of standards for a vaccine to being only 50% affective. That means that wearing a mask is statistically a better prevention than a rushed vaccine.

He is also saying that there would only be enough initial vaccine for a fraction of the US population....and it would not be until the middle of next year before it was available to everybody.

Even then, if the vaccine is so ineffective, people should still wear a mask in public.

That is a 'planning document' sent to the states. So, this means that there IS NO FEDERAL PLAN for the distribution of any vaccine. It is being left up to each individual state to come up with their own plan.

I just posted a great YouTube about this. Biden GAINED in every swing state, except Missouri and Florida. He in fact GAINED in REPUBLICAN states. Trump is not GAINING on Biden...it is simply not true.

Yes, Trump out performed polls in Wisconsin in 2016...but, over all, there was not this widespread out performing of polls nationwide. To use Wi as a nationwide example of how Trump is gaining ground is just laughable. I have already shown that if you look at 2016 and take the difference in the final polls and the election results and use that as a sorta handicap and add it to current polls, Trump STILL loses in a landslide...you also find the Clinton outperformed polls in some states as well.

The race is NOT tightening...It is opening up for Biden, with him taking an even larger lead in most swing states, and making traditional Republican states more competitive.
