New Album Update - Mixing Stage

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Fri Apr 23, 2021 11:11 am

According to Neal's twitter, Bob Clearmountain, is currently mixing the new Journey album. I thought Kalmusky would be handling that. Clearmountain's resume is vast and legendary.

Yes. ROR just celebrated its 35 year anniversary, and we come full circle. Can't wait to hear the new material.

Cain on a recent live stream

single Out next month its called 'Back To The Way We Used To Be', with a animated video. According to Jonathan - it's a uplifting, relevant song where Neal gets to rip it up like Steve Vai! Man I cant wait!

Single pushed back a few more weeks due to Bob Clearmountain's new role. Neal says he's "ripping through it..."

Thanks. Which live stream? I know Bananas At Large did one recently (had Cain, NS, Deen, Narada etc) but I missed it. As for the title.... kinda wordy. Should be changed to "The Way We Used to Be."

I am just guessing. New single out in June. Full album out in July. Tour starts in August.

Hearing a Journey album without the usual muddy ol' mix will be so refreshing.

My initial thoughts, as well, although perhaps moderated by cadence, phrasing, etc.

The Steve Vai reference may suggest the tune is a rocker, right out of the gate. I hope it “rips” our collective heads off. So exciting that we are (finally) going to hear some new Journey music!

Narada or somebody has previously said it's mid-tempo. I also remember hearing/reading that the first single was going to be bluesy. We will see.

I've been a bit skeptical but reading this has me really excited! We're finally getting a new Journey album.

Narada is helping Jon and Neal write the songs? Is this correct? If so, it will be interesting to see if they have a strong chemistry going. This new album is exciting.

I'm not too sure unfortunately - just a comment I saw from someone else

I'm so happy this album is finally happening and I think we all need to appreciate every second of it because this will most likely be the final Journey album I would expect

I could see a scenario where Neal and Narada keep creating regardless of how well the new album performs, or whether Cain is onboard. But we will see....

I felt the same way when Styx released The Mission in 2017. Now they have a new album coming June 18th and the lead single being released this Friday so you never know.
