Why Narada Left Journey

Postby Onestepper » Fri May 13, 2022 11:28 pm

Good read here:

Journey have been in a state of evolution for the past several years, beginning with the 2020 departure of drummer Steve Smith and bassist Ross Valory.

They were initially replaced by drummer and producer Narada Michael Walden and bassist Randy Jackson, the latter of whom previously appeared on Journey’s Escape and Raised on Radio albums. They both appear alongside Neal Schon, Jonathan Cain and Arnel Pineda on the new studio album Freedom, which arrives on July 8.

That was a great read. And it was fun watching La Raza del Sol again. What a fantastic rendition and reminded me how great Augeri was at that time.

Narada leaving makes a lot more sense now, I don’t blame him at all for wanting to be at home

Deeno is being his usual humble, respectful self. What’s clear from this though is that Neal may have been gelling with Narada on the new Freedom tracks, but once they started rehearsing the dirty dozen to prepare to return to the stage, Narada couldn’t cut it. Glad it all worked out in the end. Narada is healthy and Deen is back in Journey. The reverence for Steve Smith is also nice to see.
