OT: My new YouTube Channel

Postby Jeremey » Thu Oct 09, 2025 11:22 pm

Hey folks

Glad to see this place is still alive and kicking after all these years. Although I haven't listened to or performed Journey in a long time old habits die hard and I do drop by here to see what's what every few weeks or so.

Anyway, over the past year, I’ve spent a good bit of time rehabilitating my voice and doing some “one take” karaoke-style video performances, mostly as an excuse to stay in practice. Now that we’re all getting older, I wanted to put together a new YouTube channel where I can post any new one-off videos I make, share regular updates with old archived footage I’ve found, and try to clean up the audio on some of the old Frontiers material that’s been circulating over the years. I’ll also be uploading content from past projects like Elemental and my Jeremey Frederick recordings.

Some of you may remember after Frontiers went full-time following my experience with Journey, the band's publishing company pursued us pretty hard on YouTube and ended up shutting down most of my channels that had any Frontiers performances. No other Journey tributes seemed to be targeted in that way, but it is what it is, and now I guess after the major songwriters in the band have sold off their publishing I figured I'd give it another go, just to have some permanent archive of my time as a singer and musician.

So I wanted to share the channel here, if you are interested in seeing any new videos of me singing here in my little office or any lost or "remastered" footage of 18+ year old Frontiers footage, you can find it here.

I have 2 videos uploaded, one is a new one from last week, my take on Marcus King's soulful cover of Tom Petty's The Waiting, as well as an old multi-cam video of Frontiers performing Don't Stop Believin' in Sterling Heights, MI in 2010. I'm hoping to upload a video a week based on what I've gotten permission from others to clean up and use from their videos back in the day. Next week I'm hoping to upload a performance of Why Can't This Night Go On Forever from 2007, but the audio is pretty rough. I'm seeing if anything can be done to de-noise and EQ the video. My goal is to only have fairly high quality stuff on there, and who knows, maybe Journey will come after me again and hit me with a few more copyright strikes, haha!

Anyway you can check it out here

Enjoyed the other YT channel you had up and was looking forward to more installments. Don't be a stranger around here. We need your insights!

Thanks! Yeah Ed sent me over an entire 2008 show he had recorded so I want to go through that as well. The problem I'm seeing though is that so much of the fan stuff is very poor audio from nearly 20 years ago so there's potential for some rough sounding stuff. I'm trying to EQ and denoise some of the tracks but I haven't done that in a while and I don't have a lot of free time these days, but I do hope to get some things up there for posterity sake.

Actually the Suzanne performance from that concert was the one I was going to be working on next. For some reason the camera kept zooming in on our guitar player's crotch throughout the song though!

TNC thanks for following my other channel - yes I was hoping that Vocal By Nature channel would be something I'd have time to talk about voice recovery and proper vocal care and maintenance and performance tips, etc. I just ran out of time to produce any real content like that (even one of those videos takes almost a whole weekend to write, film and edit) and it was supposed to be just for fun... So now I kind of have a dead channel out there with one or two videos about voice care and a bunch of weird desktop karaoke performances :D

So I'm going to move the best "one take" videos over from that channel to the new one and shut that other one down, and focus on just having one YT channel with whatever is left that I can find from Frontiers and The Waiting etc, and the occasional one take stuff I do when I'm bored on a Tuesday night and decide to sing a song LOL.

Since I've moved on from music and I'm getting to be an old man, it would be nice to have one place for all of that just to sit as an archive of the stuff that was so much a part of my life before I had kids and got a "real job."

As I said old habits die hard so I do check in a few times a month but Journey the music just hasn't been on my musical radar for years and it's been so long since I had any emotional investment in the band (not to mention how toxic things had gotten with the inter-band lawsuits and the bizarre turn into politics that Cain has taken).

I'll try to chime in with any insights when I can!
