My AOTW is Audience - House on The Hill. It's an oldie and it's pretty different to most of the stuff I listen to, but it's great.

Neal Morse - Testimony gets the nod again this week. It's the only cd I've listened to this week. The melodies are infectious, they stick with me all day long.
I've opened doors, I've opened minds
I've opened yours a thousand times
As I wait for you

I've fought the battle from the start
I've opened sores inside my heart
It bleeds without remorse

I borrowed two cds from my bro the other day. Parts 1 and 2 of Once and Future King, which is Gary Hughes' (ex-Ten) attempt at cashing in on the concept-album scheme, this time telling the story of King Authur.

But we can only have one AOTW, so my pick is Part 1. Part 2 isn't nearly as good as the first, so it's no wonder why Gary Hughes chose to split it as two seperate releases.

I really disliked Once and Future King pt 1. I tried to like it. I like some of the singers featured on it. Damien Wilson and Lana Lane have sang on Ayreon albums and sounded awesome.....but this album just doesn't cut the cheese.....it is cheese.
Concept albums like this usually seem to either work well or be really bad.....and more often than not they are bad. Its almost as bad as Daniel Livieri (or whatever he's called)'s Genius pt 1. That had the same problem, great vocalists (like Lana Lane, Daniel Gildenlow, Midnight, Mark Boals) but tragic songwriting.
And also i think the King Arthur thing was a bit of a tacky cliche for a concept album.
If you like this sort of stuff go with Ayreon or the Avantasia albums (they are pretty decent).

My aotw is Neal Morse - Testimony. Brilliant is the only word to describe this one. Some may think the lyrics a bit too 'religious' but to me it is just a man telling the story of his spiritual journey. This one is straight from the heart of a great songwriter.

Excellent album!!

I guess my AOTW would be THE STEREO - Three Hundred

GREAT Nu-Breed Hook Rock...

I like tacky cliche cheese. I have to; I'm a keyboardist!

Well, Neal Morse-'Testimony' is still getting spins in my cd player, but Kharma's 'Wonderland' also got a few spins this week.

My AOTW will be delayed by one day. I took a chance on a new chick artist, and after I listen to it, I'll let you know what my AOTW is.

Hell with it, I'll post it tonight.

My AOTW goes to my most recent purchase, Fefe Dobson "S/T"

A very recent female singer. On first impression, I believe she is one of what could be a hundred Avril Lavigne clones. Her voice is pop-style, and the beat is pop-style, but there are many tracks where electric guitar domintes many of the songs.

Told ya Avril would change pop music. It took a year, but here is her first follower.

AOTW for me is actually a DVD. Just got in the Saxon Chronicles. Shot in 2001 at the Wacken open air festival. Absolutely awesome! The case is actually a book with the history of the band, photos, etc... a must buy if you're a Saxon fan.

This week I'll have to give it to Ayreon's - Universal Migrator. Thanks Tali. It reminds me heaps of Pink Floyd from years ago. I like it. :D

Hey JB, you might be interested in this, being a huge fan of female vocals. Stratovarius has a new female lead singer called Miss K.

For AOTW for me, is a classic by a band Zinatra. It features one Robbie Valentine on keyboards, Paul Laine on writing credits.

Stratovarius was the first power metal group I ever listened to; adding a female singer makes me even more interested in the group. :D :D :D :D

I hope she ain't the screamin' type.

Well, I have posted my comments on the new Stratovarius move on the noticeboard, but based on the opinions of others, I'm probably gonna get burned in a hurry. :(

If anybody wants to jump onto my soon-to-be burning bandwagon and post your support, I wouldn't be offended. :) :)

I am not that big a Strato fan so I'm not really affected by all this. Tolkki is making some big changes and better know what he is doing or he runs the risk of alienating some long time fans. Not only changing vocalists but going from male to female and looking like a real ego-maniacal dickhead, from the things I've been reading from him. The next album better be a really good one or he's gonna catch all kinds of hell.

Oh yeah, anyone else ever notice that the song '030366' is a rip-off of Queensryche's Screaming In Digital.

I'll post my AOTW tomorrow, but I can tell you which album is NOT my AOTW. Shiva "Desert Dreams". They have completely modernized their music-style, and their sophomore effort is just plain weak. It doesn't even get good until the first ballad track.

To make a long story short, avoid at all costs!!!

My AOTW is BRUFORD-One of a Kind.

This is the best fusion album i have heard since.....well since.
This is the album Bruford and Holdsworth did after splitting from U.K....and its awesome. Jeff Berlin rules on the bass too.....big time.

I owe my friend Doggy big time for this cd.

My first anticipated released ended up being a bust, so I will turn to the other cd that I purchased: The reissue of Erika "Cold Winter Night". (ex-wife of Yngwie if you are wondering.) This is a fairly decent keyboard-driven AOR album. Good voice, great harmonies, and radio-friendly.

I don't think it is worth the $100 the original used to get on eBay, but it is still very good for what it is. My pick for AOTW.

My aotw is Anthrax - We've Come For You All. A pretty good album overall. Now here is a band that definetly benefited from a change of vocalist.

At first i thought this album sucked the big one. It had been hyped up as a return to SOWN form and it didn't deliver. About a month ago it got a few more spins and i thought it was pretty bloody good.
John Bush is a great vocalist.

It took me a couple of listens as well and I've really kinda taken to it. 'Safe Home' is the best thing they've written since SOWN.
