Yeah I quite like Purpendicular as well, but I do think it's patchy.....to me Bananas sounds more like Purple than either Purpendicular or Abandon - I just think they tried to be a little 'different' with Purpendicular, and Abandon didn't really work.
Maybe Morse feels more comfortable, maybe Airey is a breath of fresh air, maybe both, but 'Bananas' is certainly a return to form!

Agree Bananas from Deep Purple is pretty good

My favourite song on the album is Haunted, brings out his voice.

But I do like most of the album.

It's tuesday, so for me, it's AOTW time.

I recently picked up some female rock in a cd-r trade, and amongst my stack of new titles, I have chosen Laos "We Want It".

This album big time reminds me of Chrissy Steele and Headpins in particular, only Laos' voice is screetchier, grittier, and with more attitude. I was looking for something different, and what I got was a lost female rock classic!

So many contenders this week.....but the winner is Pain of Salvation-One Hour by the Concrete Lake. Singer/guitarist Daniel Gildenlow is one of those guys who is just so gifted it makes you sick....then inspired. One of the truely innovative progressive rock/metal bands out there. I just got their new live acoustic cd 12:5 this week too which is just amazing...that'll probably be next weeks winner.

My album of the week is Kamelot - Epica. I wanted to listen to this one earlier, but I never got around to it. Melodic's advice to Trekman made me decide it was about time to give it a try.
What a great album this is. Should have listened to this earlier. On this one they combine the things I like best in bands like Queensryche and Shadow Gallery perfectly.

Have been listening the new cd by Eric Martin. It almost a carbon copy of his last cd.
What everyone think of MP3 of Brides of Destruction's track ? Sadly people who haven't got the cd yet, the rest of cd sounds same.

AOTW comes from one of a slew of cd-r trades in the previous week: Crystal Blue "Out of the Blue At Last". Granted, it is only 6 tracks long, but it's unbelievable rock in the style of Europe.

Tuesday evening is my AotW time, and mine goes to Dare "Out of the Silence." This has been my AotW once before, and I just can't pull this cd out of my stereo. Excellent keyboard-driven AOR in the style of Asia.

MY AOW is a tough one because i got about 20-25 cds in the past 10 days.

so.....MVP-Centifugal Funk.
Shawn Lane does some serious shredding and really outshines the two Aussie boys Brett Garsed and Frank Gambale....who really go for it aswell on this album that was realeased 13-14 years ago....Trekkie should get this album.

ATOW is 12 Stones' "S/T", the vocalist of this band is feature on the "Bring Me To Life" track by Evanscence.
I hoping to get in the mail, by weekend , the solo cd by Josh Todd of Buck Cherry.
Melodic, you, should have listen to the London Quireboys. They sound very simlar to the Faces. Right down to the raspy vocals, and honky tonk piano work. I recommended " A Little Bit of Fancy", their debut.
