No it is under-rated.

I shall rank (in order of excellence) the Jorn albums to clarify my point

1.Ark-Burn The Sun
2.Masterplan
3.Beyond Twilight-Devil's Hall of Fame
4.Millenium-Hourglass
5.Jorn-Worldchanger
6.Vagabond-s/t
7.Jorn-Out to Every Nation
8.Ark-s/t
9.Vagabond-A Huge Fan of Life
10.Jorn-Starfire
11.Snakes-Live in Europe
12.Mundanus Imperium-Specteral Spheres...
13.Snakes-Once Bitten

if i have left any off.....woops.

and yes it is better than Millenium-Hourglass

My AOTW is a old one. Due to a recent toothpaste/cd skating championship, I needed to copy Skunk Anansie - Post Orgasmic Chill and forgot how good this album is.

'The Definitive' VANDENBERG.
By chance I saw this one in the CD racks, and I haven't regretted buying it.

Its the 2CD album, Disc 1 has a 2004 remix of Burning heart and Disc 2 has 7 demos, 3 live and Burning heart 2004 version unplugged. I got it from a cool 2nd hand record shop in Notting hill, you won't believe me if I told you how much I paid.

Bear in mind its 2nd hand though, but its in perfect condition. The thing is though, as I haven't any Vandenberg on CD I would have paid full price for it.

I don't have an AOTW. I haven't played much music because I've been depressed.

However, with the Nightwish gig just around the corner, I intend to play all their cds (and maybe the dvds) to pump me up for the gig.

Vandenberg is great, but the Definitive collection was never released in the states. I've instead purchased the Wounded Bird reissues of his first three albums. All excellent albums IMO.

I wonder, does he still paint? I knew that he painted the cover for the Alibi and Heading For A Storm albums, and I thought he was a really good artist. I would like to see more of his paintings, if he's done any others.

The last thing I've heard is that he still paints he loves to do that. And in the future he would love to do a music project with Coverdale :) they are still good friends and speak ...... and visit eachother very often.

I've been listening to a ton of stuff that I picked up shopping. But when it came down to number of total spins, my AOTW went to Rick Wakeman "The Masters." I don't know why I hadn't heard of this guy before, because he's a monster keyboard player!

Check out my cd spin chart for this week:

Rick Wakeman "The Masters" (5 spins)
Nightwish "Once" (4 spins)
Hybrid Ice "S/T" (2 spins)
Royal Hunt "Paradox" (2 spins)
Lullacry "Crucify My Heart" (2 spins)
Barren Cross "State of Control" (1 spin)

I don't remember the last time I played so much music in such a short period of time.

AOTW for me is Bond - Classified. These ladies are amazing. Channel 7 has been playing some of their music through the Olympic Games coverage and it is awesome.

I find Bond to be a bit tacky...but they are talented ladies and a couple of them are worth going through (couldn't be bothered coming up with a remark about them playing my instrument)

I would have thought all of them were worth going through, but the music?
Classical music prostitution is one term that springs to mind......and a lot of it has drums and guitars as well.......which one of the girls plays those?

Tacky? Would that be tacky in
(1)neglected and in a state of disrepair, or
(2)lacking style or good taste or
(3)distasteful or offensive or
(4)slightly adhesive or gummy to the touch; sticky
:D

I think they sound great. Why is it prostitution?

None. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra played on the album as well, but that's not a new thing. Lot's of bands play with an orchestra. I like it, I think it gives a lot more depth to the music.

Well basically because they are using sex to try and sell 'classical' music......albeit 'pumped up' classical music.....the girls have changed a fair bit from when they started though, musically and image wise. (a friend of mine has their first album)
Head banging on violins? Short dresses with legs flashed everywhere??
Commendable from a male viewpoint, but how is it any different from Kylie/Holly Vallance/Aguilera etc etc?
Even though I am only a fringe classical music fan (Schubert, Bach, Vivaldi) I view Bond as a fairly cynical sort of attempt at exploitation.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra played on the album as well, but that's not a new thing. Lot's of bands play with an orchestra. I like it, I think it gives a lot more depth to the music
I think we're talking about two different things......I didn't say anything about an orchestra!
Yes, some bands, such as KISS, Scorpions and Metallica have done the 'rock band with symphony' thing, however, I was referring mainly to the piece that is being used in the Olympic promos.......sounds great, but it sounds great because of the rock drums and some guitar I hear.
Nothing to do with the entity known as 'Bond'.

Just my opinion, I certainly don't begrudge anyone liking the girls....

They are all very attractive girls, that's for sure, but would their music sound any different if they were fat and ugly?

Commendable from a male viewpoint, but how is it any different from Kylie/Holly Vallance/Aguilera etc etc?

They're all classically trained musicians. Three of them have Honours degrees. Tania from Sydney has a First Class Bachelor of Music Honours Degree from the Sydney Conservatorium and Postgraduate Diploma in Performance with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Haylie from Perth has received a First Class Honours Degree in Music and a postgraduate degree in Advanced Solo Studies from London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Gay-Yee from Yorkshire holds an Honours Degree in music from Trinity College of Music in London and Eos earned her music degree from the Royal College of Music in London. That's how they're different to Kylie/Holly Vallance/ Aguilera etc.

Those rock drums and guitars you hear are part of the orchestra :D

Yeah, that was a funny album... I liked the part where they are discussing tight jeans, and that it might be a better idea to just paint the legs and skip the jeans... It's been a while since I last heard it, but wasn't there also a song about sheep or plundering or something like that? Was that in Warrior of Genghis Khan perhaps?

Thanks to SnakeLady my AOTW is Threshold - Subsurface. :D It has hardly left the CD player this week. It's kind of like Dream Theater meets Yes, but without Jon Anderson on vocals, and more melodic than Dream Theater. Great songs, great lyrics, I hope to see them play these songs live next month... :)
