I posted a review for it in the female rock forum, but I'm thinking about rewriting it now that I've heard it a few more times.

I'm shocked that Mr Rock hasn't plugged them yet.

I'm going to pick their debut EP up when I see them supporting Europe. They do sound promising. You got that EP quick, it was only released this week I think.

I picked my copy of the ep from the States, via cduniverse.com.

Tough one this week...ywo albums have been getting the full treatment this week.
Mnemic-The Audio Injected Soul has been my car buddy. Heavy stuff.

Pain Of Salvation-Be has been my home cd. This is a tough one. PoS have to be one of my fave bands of all time and this is the new concept cd that has been talked up as their masterpiece. Its not one of those storyline concept albums about a elf king who needs to capture the 5 stones of Gaa in order to restore balance to the universe.....it covers a whole range of subjects based around creation, human behaviour blah blah blah. Musically its all over the place from gospel, folk, metal, blues. It has an orchestra and their are quite a few voice overs throughout quoting world population figures at different times through history and the some projected figures in the near future, their is an answering machine where people have rung up God and left a message and other bits as well.

Is it any good?

All PoS cds take at least 5 or more listens to 'get'. I almost missed out on this band completely because i listened to two of their cds and thought it was kind of average. This new one is on its 5th or 6th spin and i like it now a lot more than i did on first listening but the voice overs get on your nerves after a while when you have heard them a few times and they sort of stop the flow of the album. Its not their best album and when its been hyped as a masterpiece by the band and press and it doesn't live up to expectations you get a bit dissapointed.
But......Daniel Gildenlow has got an amazing, amazing, versatile voice. On nearly every album they have put out i have had shivers at some stage because of his voice. True progressive music with minimal amouts of wank.

AOTW, though I haven't listened to much music this week, goes to Lunatica "Fables & Dreams" for the second week in a row. I have rewritten my review on it slightly in the Female Rock forum, and hell, I even changed my avatar to the album cover.

Mostly Autum - Music Inspired By The Lord Of The Rings

As much as it sounds like an effort to make a quick buck from the success of the movie, it really is a nice album. All the Mostly Autumn ingredients are in there: a song about trees, a touch of renaissance, an ode to Blackmore, an ode to Pink Floyd, a song for elves to dance on, sad melodies, rock. Bryan Josh's solos are so beautiful, they just never last long enough for me. Nice album for day dreaming. :)

For an unprecidented third week in a row, the first for any of my AOTW's, goes to Lunatica "Fables & Dreams!" Unless I hear something that absolutely blows me away, this could very well be my female-fronted album of the year!

Quite a change of opinion when compared to "not the best" in my first week of spins.
