I agree with your post Eric. Although, I found the song Frontiers kind of grew on me...same with Rubicon. Both were definitely a different Journey "sound."Abitaman wrote:Frontiers from Frontiers bites, as does a lot of the shorter songs (filler) from Depature.
And for the comments above Steve, Augeri is a great singer, not as good as Perry. And I will go see JRNY with Augeri at the helm anytime.
Someone gave to me JRNY cd the other day that was Augeri's first show with the group, he was good back then, put the improvement he has gone thru over the past few years has been great. Hope there new cd is worthy of his voice.-ERIC

Oh MY.....Why Can't this Night Go On Forever is STUNNING!!

Yeah, you're right. But, any CD is stunning when used as a coaster.

I think it's a fun, catchy tune. As far as it being "out of place" I really don't care. I like it.yakov wrote:Kuroneko1 wrote:This hidden song in trial by fire album. I dislike it a lot. A reggae/calypso thing which is out of place.
Way bad and way out of date. What was the old boy thinking when he did that? Didn't he have anything better?

The_Noble_Cause wrote: I'm not going to be quixotic and say that the reggae sounding "Baby I'm Leaving You" should've been left out in favor of some modern Augeri tracks, though that would've been nice, but I feel there are even plenty of older Perry tracks that are way more deserving of being confered with the label "Essential Journey" than that one off-branch experimental jamaican influenced little ditty.
What makes it so essential?

You mean what were the old MEN thinking??

My dear misguided lotus blossom... NO, I meant "What was the old boy thinking when he did that?"
Kuroneko1 wrote:When I heard it first time, I could not believe my ears. It was truly a shock. Such a beautiful album ending like this? Hope guys never try anything such as "Baby Im leaving you" again.
Journey's problem is not their music...I liked Arrival a LOT. The band is HORRIBLE when it comes to promoting their new music. Hopefully, that will change.Kuroneko1 wrote:I guess you are right Yakov. On the last album we did not have such surprise. Sure Perry is my favourite singer and I absolutely love his voice. But I prefer a band with a singer who does not slow down the band and turns it into a jenga playground. No disrespect to Perry but enough is enough. If he does not want to do it, thats his choice and we all respect that. At the other hand, I dont want to wait decades to hear the new album from journey anymore. There is only one journey in this world and I want it to be alive and well. Hope new album is worth the wait and even better than the arrival.
