Didn't know this one... I have the Mark III final concerts, which contains some of the songs on Live In Paris apparently, but not Burn and Stormbringer. Those are recorded from the show in Graz... and I've learned that according to the DP fanclub the Paris CD is better.

And after having played Deep Purple - The Mark III concerts and hearing Mistreated, I felt the need to play Rainbow On Stage. The version of Mistreated on that one is simply amazing, but does not even begin to compare to Catch The Rainbow (NP!) with it's stunningly beautiful solo, I'll need to wait a little longer, and then I'm going to hear the wonderful riff on Still I'm Sad again. Anyway, I've decided the Rainbow album is my AOTW. :D

I did see all yours cds on Friday afternoon, Kenny. Yes, the jewel case version of the new Masterplan has finally come in.

My AOW is Masterplan-Aeronautics.

Its a pretty solid second release, bloody good.....but I have to say that it really is the Jorn Lande show. If you gave the same pieces of music to any other singer then i very much doubt this album would be any where near as good. Some of the chord progressions are just a little bit too predictable and i don't think its as diverse as the first one. Thank God Jorn just seems to come up with the optimum melody line for any given chord progression every time.

Bring on the Lande/Allen album.

Tali, I agree with you for the most part. Especially the part about the album being bloody good! And I'm afraid to think how Masterplan without Jorn Lande would sound. Although Uli Kusch plays quite excellent. I don't know exactly how to describe it, but he makes the drums sound so happy!

They haven't become as prog as maybe was suggested, but on the whole I think the new album sounds more balanced than their debut. The prog part is probably reserved for the Lande/Allen album, of which I still haven't heard that song that is already on some compilation...

Bobbi Flekman wrote:Spock's Beard - Day For Night

That album sounds better than the other one I tried a while ago. In particular the song Gibberish, the a capella vocals on that song are so like... Savatage! :D

*sprints away*

Seriously, I really like that song! :)

Here's a sample off the Lande/Allen cd....its only Jorn. Sounds okay...nothing special.

I've always thought that Neal Morse was the vocal twin of Jon Oliva :D

Fucking great band Bobbi....I like all their discs (haven't heard Octane yet though)

Me neither, it says page not found, it seems to me the link address is incomplete. I'm going to take a look on the NEH site and see if I can find a sample.

This one should work:

Sounds good to me... albeit way too short. Very melodic. :)

I don't have an AOTW. I just received my NEH order the other day (and they screwed it up. Very un-NEH-like. Haven't got a reply from my e-mail yet.) So instead, my AOTW goes to all the .mp3's I've gone through while finalizing a list for a cd-r trade.

However, I should have a real AOTW before the week's out.

Ok, I have a AOTW this week...Masterplan "Areonautics"

2005's music scene is officially cancelled...THIS IS ALBUM OF THE YEAR! No other release will come close to it's greatness. Nothing! Period!

(strong words coming from a guy who's anticipating the new Circle II Circle and Evanescence releases.)

I'd say your choice is understandable, Jonny. ;)

Bobbi came home with the new Judas Priest album today, and although I didn't pay total attention to it while it was playing, I think it qualifies as AOTW. It's getting its second spin as I write this. It's very heavy, and very Priest. The last song being the exception... the riff on that one sounded like an ultra heavy Black Sabbath riff.

I've also got the 'Gemini suite live' CD, I find it hard going and have never played it all the way through!

My album......Crown of Thorns - 'Crown Jewels'. Great band.

Arena's Contagion is my AOTW. I don't like a lot of prog stuff, but this album is excellent.

I understand that is a Jon Lord solowork (performed with the rest of Deep Purple)? I've read about his solowork, never heard any of it. All I know is that it is rather different than Deep Purple.

My album of the week is 40 licks - The Rolling Stones

The reason for this is...I am a tool. I have moved to China WITHOUT any music!!! A fellow teacher has lent me 40 licks so at least I can listen to something.

Why did I move without taking any music (I DO have the portable CD player after all...)? Bit of a long story, but basically in the rush to pack and move furniture and organise money and mail redirections etc, my CD's moved to Bunbury from Perth (a distance of 200km's) before I could pack them...or in real terms, I forgot to pack them  As I said, I am a tool...

Not that bad an album though!

Dickhead.....you had a week at least to orgy nise all that shite!!!
Anyway....nice to 'see' you mate!! How's Beijing??
It already feels strange to know that when we go to Perth this year we won't be going to see you.
It was a lazy 40 in Hedland today, with 70% humidity. Kick ass lightning storm last night......only problem is it knocked out the power for an hour and a half!!

Aww, that's the saddest story I've heard in a while. If you need me to mail (or e-mail perhaps?) you some music just drop me a message... tool! :P ;)

MM...i take it was a move to do some teaching...i had a friend/guitar student who went to China to do some teaching and when he got there (after a long flight and a long drive to the school he was supposed to teach at) they told him he wasn't needed so he had a hissy fit and turned around and came home the same day.

As for the music.....its time to start downloading some songs buddy.
