my ATOW is return of Jake E Lee, his new 1 is called"Retraced". It's fulled of covers, but Jake makes sound like he wrote himself.

Mine is Frameshift-An Absence of Empathy. Its really really good to hear Sebastian Bach singing something worth listening too. He should do some more prog stuff. The best thing he's done sine Slave to the Grind.

Beyond Twilight - Section X

It sounds very different from their previous album; more Symphony X like. Not surprising considering their new singer sounds very much like Russell Allen (who they originally had started to work with for this album).

I was just talking to my mailbox and he mentioned he was hungry for Beyond Twilight discs.

Why is that? Don't you want to listen to them? Are you gonna feed them to your mailbox?

Think of me as a baby bird....the mailbox has to digest the disc before my ears can feed on it. Also the mailbox has had a very unhealthy diet in the last two weeks...eating nothing but bills....definately needs some musical protein supplement.

Anyway S-Dip...if your mailbox looks skinny let me know...

My AOTW goes to Edenbridge "Shine."
Though they've improved by adding vocal harmonies, the music hasn't evolved much from Aphelion. Compared to what Within Temptation released at around the same time in late 2004, it makes the new Edenbridge sound rather ordinary.

...But then, what doesn't sound rather ordinary since then?

My AOTW goes to Visions of Atlantis "Cast Away," finally issued in the US.

Musically speaking, there's not much in the way of originality. However, it does offer an exact Nightwish clone female vocalist, and a male vocalist that doesn't growl. The two singers concoct some killer harmonies that rival the other Power Metal groups.

AOTW for me is Pretty Maids - Screamin' Live. Great live album.

Jonny, I heard that Visions of Atlantis album and thought it was a bloody awful Nightwish clone. There were a couple of ok songs, but the vocalists are both not the greatest.

Beyond Twilight-Section X. Bloody impressive i must say. I've got Rusty Cooley's cd which has Kelly Carpenter singing 2 songs at the end....i wasn't really that impressed with him at all and was a bit dissapinted when i heard that he was doing the new BT.....not anymore. A perfect fit and almost as good as Jorn....but not quite.

Thanks S-Dip. :D

Nothing wrong with the singers. My only defense is that it's better than growlers, and it's better than Nightwish "Once." And at all points of time in the music industry, at least IMO, most clones were actually better than the originals.

AOTW is Mostly Autumn "Passengers." the local music store started carrying their albums as of this April.

Well each to his own Jonny. Having different tates and different opinions is part of what makes the world go round. :D But better than Once? That's a pretty HUGE call.

My album of the week is Kamelot - Epica...somehow managed to find this buried under the pile of Boyzone and Westlife that populates all music stores here in China.

If I may, I would also like to nominate a music DVD of the week, that being Roger Waters - The Wall Live in Berlin '90...fucking incredible show

After having to rearrange my CDs I came to the seldom used section of 'A'. Found some albums I haven't played in a long time (A.C.T., Anouk, April Wine, etc.) and After Forever's Invisible Circles.
