My AOTW goes to 7 Months "S/T." After a little research, I was very disappointed with the poor reviews this album got. It's very AOR, but with progressive traits, very keyboard driven, and the singer could very well be a Trent Gardner clone (Magellan singer if you're asking.) This is one album that is so godly underappreciated that it makes a person sick. I think a lighter prog sound would sound a lot better than some of the speedy heavy stuff that has come out in recent years.

I've got that album....didn't hate it but i didn't particularly like it either.

Not a lot of different picks this week! Tyranny Of Souls is the album I have played most this week as well.

AOTW goes to Infinite Dreams "Touch My Skin." Shame on ALL the melodic rock labels for ignoring this gem of 2003. Imagine the best aspects of Shiva & Alyson Avenue put on a hard-hitting rock album. If the genre of female rock never blossomed, it was because quality releases like this one was overlooked.

This is a test of time, or ToT post, which has little to do with my AOTWs. The other day I was going through my cd archives, and listened to Stratovarius "Destiny." This was the very first power metal album I ever listened to, and the same one that got me into the euro power metal scene. Sadly though, this one doesn't do much for me anymore. There has been so many power metal bands producing top-quality power metal, that they have made the Stratovarius style sound so filler-ish.

Suffice it to say, aside from a couple tracks, my first power metal album didn't stand my ToT.

My AOTW goes to Lullacry "Crucify My Heart." This is one group that got mislabled as a goth group. In actuality, Lullacry should be an everyday announcement on melodicrock, as a hard-hitting, catchy-as-hell hard rock group. It's a shame so few have discovered them.

A week ago i would have said my AOW was definately going to be Dream Thaeter's 'Octavarium'.....but its not.

Tiles-Window Dressing....awesome 2112-Moving Pictures era Rush inspired album that imo blows the new DT out of the water. Didn't really get into Tiles much before this album (which i only bought because it was on sale last week) but this is great....despite it sounding so much like Rush (with a different singer)...even produced by Terry Brown and art done by Hugh Syme.

Haven't had time to listen to much at all, but I bought 23 albums while I was away. They are all still in transit as I had far too much luggage and had to send a couple of suitcases cargo. DAMN!!!!! Next week I will have a lot to listen too. One album that caught my attention though was Poets of the Fall. They're different to what I ususally listen too but I like them. Sort of modern Jim Croce, but not. :D

Ah. don't mind me, I've had an ADO today, and I decided it might be a good idea to get as drunk as humanly possible......Tali, you may burn in rock hell for saying **whatever** blows the Dream Theater album away.
You know it's simply not true. You just know.

Great to see you back, Penny!

All of them??? You should have put at least a couple in your carry on luggage! ;)

I think I may like that new Dream Theater album. Heard one song at the concert (sorry, Kenny ) I liked that, it had a great bass riff going. And from what I've read the album seems to be less freaky and more focused on songs, which is fine by me!

What's an ADO, btw? Sounds like something serious...

The new DT is just a bit boring...their glory days are behind them i think. I actually like James LaBrie's recent solo album more than the new DT.
That Tiles album keeps wanting me to play it....Octavarium will get a few more spins out of respect but from a lot of reviews i have read i can see that i am not an island on this one.

My AOTW is Survivor - Caught In The Game. Vital Signs always was THE album for me, and then anything else they did with Jimi Jamison afterwards, but over the years I've come to appreciate Caught In The Game better and better. Dave Bickler's warm voice, the melancholy of the songs, it is all simply beautiful.
