Sorry, can't hear that classic feel very much. The vocal melodies and sound of the vocals make it seem so nu breed to me... I don't know... it all sounds a bit tame.

I have already used the after sun lotion, and I've bought a cucumber just in case it gets worse.
A cucumber??
I hardly think that will help......though I suppose it could take your mind off the burn!!

 Yeah I suppose so!
What works better though is to slice it and cover the burns with them. :D

They're quite good actually! I didn't turn lobster red yesterday, so I was able to sit in the sun some more today!

Life's treating me ok. I'm a bit stressed about a lot of things, more than I can really share. But I'll get over it eventually. Keep living the good life.

You're too young to be stressed Jonny. Plenty of time later in life when you have a mortgage, start losing your hair, etc etc.....

Hi again!

I think we had a good time last night, approximately 100 in the audience. Yes, it was a covers gig yesterday but we also did some originals just to try them out.

It's typical pre summer weather here now, rain and more rain!

Hey all, i just got back from a week in the Smokey Mountains. It was so beautiful and relaxing. We had a huge cabin with a hot tub on the deck overloooking the mountains. I am going to really miss that hot tub! As soon as i get the pics up I will post a link to the album.

We haven't won in Melbourne yet Doggy......and we are now without Gardiner, Wirrpunda, and maybe Tyson Stenglein for a few weeks.
I think Richmond are a good chance against us this week.

Went to Sydney yesterday to meet a guy called Rick O'Neil who is a mastering engineer (he's mastered so many albums...like Madonna, Barnesy and soon Taliesin). We gave him two songs for his opinion on the mix...and he ripped them to shreds  which we were expecting but he gave us some good ideas on what we need to fix (mainly that we should mix it in a profesional environment...not in a noisy bedroom with speakers that mask a lot of frequencies). The best part was driving my mates brand spanking new Monaro 180km/h down the highway...felt like i was doing 100km/h....a sweet ride that made driving my Astra all the less enjoyable afterwards.

Tali I thought the harmonies were good, but were too loud, and the drums needed a bit more punch......based on the bit I heard, not too much else was wrong IMO. Besides having a couple of hundred thousand dollars to spend on it, I mean.

Rick O'Neil's main complaint was that we (well John really) had eq'd the life out of a lot of the instruments....the original drum takes were crap (bad mics in a bedroom-it was never gonna sound top notch) but trying to make them sound good actually "robbed them of their essence" and mix wise the cymbols/hats are way to loud (and shitty sounding) compared to the rest of the kit....the vocals (especially the backups) are way too loud in the mix and the guitar tone was desribed by Rick as "bright yet dull"
He was a tripped out dude for sure...but he did try and explain how to get a more 3D mix with only 2D controllers.
Back to the drawing board.....

I feel like I'm walking down the wrong way of a 1-way dead-end street, and I'm about to smash into a friggin' bus.

My hours at work have been slashed nearly in half. I'm getting less than 20 hours now. They say that work is slow during the summer, but in actual truth, they hire more people so that they can cut hours, reduce pay, and not have to pay benefits. Typical corporate America bull$hit.
I was oh-so close to earning enough money to fix my bedroom...now I'll have all I can do to pay my bills.

The band project is sucking total a$$ at the moment. The newest argument with my bro had to do with our replacement singer. Granted. the new singer is better than the old one in most aspects; always on cue, broader range, no family to raise, etc. But she's got no style, nor power, worth speaking of. Sounds like another recycled 90's teen pop singer. Because there's at least 50 other bands looking for singers locally, it was basically dumped onto my lap that she was our only choice. It's either that, or wait another year.

(it's been 4 years going now, what's another?)

The only thing good that has come out of this week was the most recent co-ed softball game. All the dickheads skipped out (including the ones who accused me of faking an injury in the first game. Pull both your leg muscles and tell me you're faking it.) The new recruits are awesome! They take the attitude that they have nothing to lose, and give it their all at every opportunity. I haven't had that much fun playing ball since the beginning of last season. I wish the dickheads had been there to watch. Maybe they could've learned how well a team does when they're not bickering with each other and looking for scapegoats whenever they're losing 39 to 0.

We did lose game 2 as well, but only by 9 runs. With the replacements, we cut the margin of loss by 75%!!! I feel that with practice, we can actually beat some teams this year.

There's my rant of the week. I need a drink.

Jonny, not that I have ever been in a band, but I've hung around many of them :o, and from that it seems to me that 'fun' should be the keyword, not 'musical abilities'. Of course fun can come from playing in a musically proficient band, but I think most of the fun comes from playing music with people who are on the same wavelength, and not per sé the best musicians. It is rare for a band at the start of their career to have both. But, like Scotch, bands can improve over time. ;)

Writing songs, making music you love, with people you like, seeing a song grow, emptying a crate of beer with the bandmembers during or after rehearsal, all that seems like a worthwhile experience to me, regardless of the quality of the music or the musicians.

More so, all the things that go wrong, like the fridge in the rehearsal room exploding, broken down vans, hostile audiences, confused lighting technicians and all that make great stuff for anecdotes... or... the movie.

It might not be that bad to compromise a little in order to keep this project going and see where this experience would lead.

Now I need a drink as well. :)
