Ranking so far of the 7 Clips

Postby Eric » Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:42 am

1) Place in Your Heart (Most Journeyish)
2) Never too Late (Can't get it out of me head - Castronovo sounds great)
3) Faith in Heartland (Need to hear it all, and hear it live..but likey so far)
4) Out of Harms Way (I like the geetar and urgency, the chorus is a little
underwhemling though. Need to hear it all and live too.)
5) Beyond the Clouds (Boring song, inspirational chorus though)
6) Better Life (Underwhelming chorus after a few listens)
7) Every Generation (UH...why is this on a Journey album?)

Well Eric, I see you already got a copy?

I would rank them slightly different.

Faith in the Heartland---LA Woman said it was a little like U2's "A Beautiful Day" I liken it to Escape

The Place in Your Heart- Ask The Loney-ish..Very nice melodic rock

A Better Life- This one continues to grow on me. When it starts, I hear Richard marx's "Hazard" then I hear "After the Fall."

It's Never too Late..-Well, for some reason, Journey's "management" elects to not have it on the CD..WTF is that? Great song

Out of Harms Way- spooky as Hell..Thanks "W" for the inspiration you prick.

Every Generation- so so

Beyond the Clouds- Sounds very Arrival to me

1) Never Too Late
2) The Place In Your Heart
3) Faith In The Heartland
4) Better Life
5) Out Of Harms Way( Although I think this will move up the list when I hear the whole song)
6) Beyond the Clouds
7) Every Generation ( I like the song but I'm not convinced it's a Journey track).

Out of harms way..

I HAVE the CD(so fuck off you jealous bastards!) I am kidding :D

Out of Harms Way has some intense lyrics:

About midwestern boys only chance in life is to go to the service, and then the poor fucker is in a desert war, waking up in a strangeland,; this being what he didn't expect nor want..

Of course these aren't the lyrics but that is what is meant..

I see it as political statement, and not favorable to the current bosses, but extremely supportive of the troops...

1) Place in Your Heart (catchy as fuck)
2) Faith in Heartland (same as above. Oh, and it rocks, too.)
3) Beyond the Clouds (soaring melody, moody, passionate.)
4) Every Generation (the soft rock melody master has done it again. What a song!)
5) Out of Harm's Way (ambitious and unconventional ala Frontiers side B)

Tie: Never Too Late, Better Life - I'm a big Deen fan, but so far, I am rather apathetic about these two. Now that's not to say I don't like 'em, but eh, well, they just don't tickle me as much as the others do.

I agree, TNC. Never Too Late doesn't do much for me either, but I am basing that on the soundbyte.

It's catchy enough, but it doesnt sound fresh.
The other songs sound like a new evolution of Journey.
This sounds like an Arrival leftover (and going by the writing credits, I believe it is).
