Eric Johnson - Ah Via Musicom.

A guitarist that is flash, but doesn't have to show it off every second...

Just listen to the Wes Montgomery inspired East Wes or Cliffs Of Dover! Release that new album already!!!

Its your second go....i sent you 'The Light' a while ago and you reckoned it blew goats
Feel Euphoria is actually considered the worst SB album....or maybe you like NDV's voice better than Neal Morse.

Yeah...one of my fave Malmsteen albums. The version of In The Dead of Night is the best song on that album....that song really helped get me into Allan Holdsworth.

That's an album I'd love to hear more of. ;) The only song I know is Arriving Somewhere But Here. Wonderful song!
btw I think you may like Opeth - Damnation as well, if you like this.

My AOTW is Shadow Gallery - Room V. I couldn't stop playing Tyranny after I heard Room V, so I haven't really gotten around to listen to Room V properly. :?

Anyway, what I mean is that I liked Room V at first listen so much, that I felt I had to know Tyranny (to which Room V is a sequel) much better to completely grasp the awesomeness of Room V.

No! If it hadn't been for Room V, I wouldn't even have listened to Tyranny! I already heard at first listen how excellent Room V was. That I've played Tyranny so much was only to enhance the listening experiemce of Room V even further. See? It all makes perfect sense!

Pagan's Mind-Enigmatic Calling. I really got into these guys from hearing Jorn's last album. The guitarist and drummer played on it. In Pagan's Mind the musianship really gets stepped up a notch or two.

The only Pagan's Mind I've heard is Celestial Entrance and it's pretty good.

AOTW for me is still Brainstorm's Liquid Monster. Love it!!!

seeing as you are in a bit of a Steven Wilson zone lately Snakey i recommend you try a band called Paatos and their cd Kallocain. Its kind of mellow with a chick singer...mixed by Wilson...sounds a bit like a good version of Portishead.

ATOW is "Silent Company" by Australia's own Black Majesty.
They do a great cover of Jon English's "6 Ribbons".

I will be a bit late with an AOTW. I sent out my first cd order in 3 months and it hasn't arrived yet. Up on the table will be Robin Beck 'Do You Miss Me,' Broke N Blue 'The Waiting,' and Harem Scarem 'Overload.'

Despite my strong bias towards female rock, I have a hunch that HS will dominate.

Since I'm going to MA this saturday, I thought it was prudent to get reacquanted with their last, so...

Mostly Autumn - Storms Over Still Water. Hope they play Carpe Diem at the gig! And Ghost In Dreamland!

And...(drum roll)...my AOTW is...Not HS "Overload!"

Overall, I thought the album started really strong, but then when the ballads started setting in, the album just seemed to get progressively weaker. "Weight of the World" is still their greatest, seemingly untopable album.

Robin Beck's new album isn't another "Trouble Or Nothing," but it's definitely her best post-ToN AOR effort to date.

So my AOTW will go to Broke N Blue "The Waiting." The Swedish Female Rock invasion continues with a sophomore effort that is stronger and a little harder-edged than their debut. I was a bit surprised by the use of a male singer on a few tracks, but both singers compliment very well. A review in the female rock forum to follow on my next day off.

Sentenced - Funeral Album for me this week. It's a good album to go out on. It's maybe slightly more progressive than their earlier stuff, so maybe it's a good time for them to finish. :D

XsavioR-Caleidoscope...very prog and Queen influenced vocal harmonies. Goran Edman is great as usual and the guitar playing is fucking ridiculous  damn those swedes know how to handle an axe i tell ya.

My AOTW remains the same this week. Broke N Blue "The Waiting"

However, the new Harem Scarem is starting to sink into my skull a little better...but...I...just...can't...get...over...the weak ending of 3 straight ballads. It kills any momentum the album had beforehand.
