I am certain of three things, 1) Jeff is a class act - I doubt he is really offended by the bull shit becasue that is all it is. He is beyond minor stabs at this point. But I'm sure he enjoys a little forum fun too. 2) There is plenty of proof that the majority is in Jeff's favor - reviews, postings etc. and 3) I have never enjoyed a Journey concert as much I did with Jeff performing.

It doesn't mean I will be pissed or cry like a sissy girl if there ends up being another front man...it just means that in addition to being a long time Journey fan, I'm a die hard JSS fan now, also. No offense to the sissy girls...I'm a chick too.

Will this debate ever end ? Even if Journey broke up today there would still be the raging debate of who's vocal cock was the largest. JSS has the job ATM end of story. All the complaining in the world wont change it. Steve A isnt coming back. Him and Perry both now have "chronic throat infections" or in other words age caught up and beat their vocal cords with a raspy stick ! Really, we will be lucky if there is another album. I went to a concert, (was more impressed than I expected to be, but it still wasn't right to me) I have read many reviews good and bad. I talked to many on both sides. Hey, I hope he proves me wrong in time. I am a fan. I hope some new music proves me wrong. I am rooting for the guy. He's an amazing talent. But like many I think they could have picked a more (Journey-like) voice.

The concert I was at, people thought he was great. They were excited, inc. the Leppard fans. I'm going to another on 11/7. The reviews I've read at Journey's site seen to be 80/20 for Jeff at least.

Have you listened to the latest boot? Take a listen, turn up the speakers, try to ignore Augeri's voice in the bg vocals mix cos it can be offputting. Then listen to an old boot of Perry if u have one back from the early 80s. Listen to the styles & the rocking. U might just hear what I'm hearing. Unless of course u didn't like Perry & just preferred the mild Augeri stuff. If that's the case, then that's what Journey represents to you. But I started being a Journey fan in 79 & for me, the rocking sound was what I loved.

You know, I don't remember anyone here ripping on JSS. Folks have expressed their opinion about his voice not being suited for Journey's sound but I don't think anyone has "ripped" JSS. So if I'm considered an idiot for having a different opinion of how JSS sounds in Journey then I think that sucks. Anyone with a brain would be taking a different approach on how to deal with differencing opinions. You can't argue against how someone feels for crying out loud.

The only time I thought Augeri sounded like Perry was the very first show that I ever saw of the band in November '98. Even then, I never thought he sounded exactly like Perry as some have said and then turn around and say that he sounds terrible...How can you sound "exactly" like Perry and sound terrible at the same time???.

Jeff, I am glad that you aren't trying to sound like SP or SA or else I wouldn't be listening to Journey now!

Don't get me wrong people, I have liked Journey since the 70's but never really listened to them other than what was on the radio. I always thought they were too "light" for my tastes. Jeff has brought balls to this band and that is just what they needed. That being said, Jeff has also brought many new fans. Fans that would have never given Journey a second listen.

• Frontiers has never tuned down any songs, they have always been performed in their original key.

• I hardly think Jeff worries about the likes of me "blowing him off the stage," though at the same time I wouldn't classify what I do as a "clone" or "karaoke." Some people's natural voices and tones are extremely similar, that's the genetic hand I was dealt, it's done me much more harm than good during my career. There was a time in my life when I didn't even know who Steve Perry was, and I still had the same voice. On the other hand, I could do a mean Michael McDonald, but that would indeed be an impression. The difference between impression and impersonation is that an impression is a vocal contortion to sound like a character, a la Rich Little. An impersonation is more along the lines of a physical change, like a Cher impersonator or Elvis impersonator.

JSS is a different kind of singer and I like that he picks and chooses the oportune spots (yes, opionion based only on a bunch of boots to this point) to roll the Perryisms out. But the catalogue IMO opinion stands up to the different treatments he brings.
