Cyndy's & Lora's thoughts on the HH interview

Perhaps we should pose the question to Cyndy and Lora about the TIMING of said lunch.

Did it take place AFTER the interview was published?

That would certainly help answer the "premeditated" response alligation.

Thanks for posting that Bill Graham show. Definitely not Perry's finest hour. On the other hand, it was an "on-the-fly" performance in a new key, without rehearsal.

There are some performances on YouTube from his 1994 tour that sound better than this.

Either put some music out or not...but stop going 'I think about touring all the time'...as for the comment regarding perry's insistance that fans get used to him being gone, Sorry. My source is protected there. Either discount its validity using your own filters or take it with whatever grain of salt you wish. Its validity is not integral to my assertions.

Then without naming the person you're as bad as you claim Perry is. You want to have this info, as Perry says he wants to tour and then doesn't do anything then you don't name the person who told you this info. I'm a confessed loon but I do know the score. I am not blinded by my looness  to not see that Perry keeps the fans hanging on and then doesn't produce. However, I don't live my life hanging on whether Perry sings or not. Would it be grand, yes. Can I live without it, sure can. :D [/b]
The power and passion that Steve Perry has in his delivery is what won me over to be a huge fan.

There is also proof that Perry keeps dangling the tour/new music carrot in front of everyone. It started with TBF and more recently includes comments like "I think about it every day" "I miss it dearly" "I'm practicing scales" and other vague inferences in interviews. This guy is a fucking legend. He should start acting like it. Frank is right. Release it or don't release it...tour or don't tour. But for the love of God, please quit the barf inducing proclamations by proxy through mouth pieces like Joe Benson, Steve Lukather, Team Perry and others.

Actually, I didn't make an inference...I have a source. I just wont reveal it. But like I said, anyone that wants to dismiss it, because I wont violate my source, is free to do so

You're making an assumption.

No, just going on Lora's initial post saying "a few weeks ago". HH's interview was more recent.

I guess our reality is really a product of our own psychosis.

Deal!  Sorry, but I don't over-analyze, magnify and dissect every single comment he's ever made. I'm not still dwelling on his "I think of singing every day" comment that he made years ago on BTM. :?

Yep, whether Perry sings again or not is what gets me out of bed in the morning.  Sheesh, if what Perry does or doesn't do gets your bile flowing, ya might want to get some help with that.

I hear this from bands and singers ALL THE TIME! Not to mention, he likely does think about it every day, he likely does miss it, and it certainly looks like he has been working on his scales.

And let's recall one major component of this. The man does not have a record deal (that we know of). That means the cash for demos is likely coming out of his pocket. Knowing how Steve has recorded in the past, that's no cheap effort. I have no clue one way or another if it's a factor, but how couldn't it be?

Do these types of things bother you as much when other bands or singers talk like this?

Oh for fucks sake, drain the abscess...it's cutting off blood flow to your brain.

I'm *not* the former singer of Journey.
I'm *not* the one dangling tours and a return to music.
I'm *not* the one that has been a primary contributor to the ROR/TBF derailments.

Perry's statement about his fans getting used to his absence is something, as already stated, is *not* pivotal to this discussion and you are free to discredit it. But to suggest that because my comment (which as already stated, can and HAS been inferred, by others) puts me in the same boat as someone that is primarily responsible for the ROR tour getting cut short and the TBF tour NEVER getting off the ground....is proof positive that loons drink draino. You really have a warped sense of reality.

Most bands and singers don't hold their fans hostage for years and years, staying involved with the music industry only enough to make money, but not enough to provide something tangible for fans who are looking forward to something, ANYTHING, new.

He may have been about the fans when they were flashing titties and ponying up hundreds of dollars for tickets, where he was THE big fish in the sea, but now it's blatantly apparent that it is all about the money and the most important thing to the Portuguese Hobbit: CONTROL.

Given the cost of quality digital equipment, the ease with which it can be deployed and used and the fact that the current music industry business model is invalid anyway....suggests that this entire suggested theory doesn't hold water any more.

10-15-20 years ago, maybe. But today, major label releases are being recorded on laptops with a modest investment in microphones and software. Steve could likely record something extremely well done with a fraction of the money he would have needed for such an endeavor, 20 years ago. And reportedly, money isn't that much of a problem for steve anyway...

Exactly. He had absolutely nothing to gain by showing up and surprising our small group of about a dozen fans. I'm sure one of them will find a way to spin that one though.

To clear a few things up:

1) Our lunch with Steve was before Andrew mentioned anything about interviewing HH.
2) At lunch, I had a chicken casear salad, Cyndy had thai chicken salad and Steve had a cobb salad.
3) SP is not a client of FA. We post messages from him now and then, but that's just because he is a friend and we like him.
4) His vocal performance at the Bill Graham tribute was absolutely not up to standards. He hadn't sung a note in many years but wanted to be part of that day to show his respect to Bill Graham.

Cyndy & I posted about listening to the demos because we wanted to share the info. No one is dangling anything or teasing anyone about anything. We heard some demos. They were awesome. That's it. Those who take that info and turn it into something else are misinterpreting our post.

1) I believe you.
2) Healthy eaters...probably why the 3 of you look so wonderful for your age.
3) "...he is a friend and we like him." I would have never guessed that.  :P
4) I respect the shit out of you for saying as much. That said, you can turn in your Loon card effective immediately. :P

As for the last part...rub it in why don't you. :x Care to cover my body in paper cuts and dip me in rubbing alcohol while you're at it?
