Bwahahaha....because the news originated from Steve Perry (v his promotional 'tools'). Hell, that'd stand up in most courts without a legal path to appeal.

Very unf*cking cool! Calling L&C tools?!

well, it certainly was not meant in the way that *you* interpreted it. Lay down your rediculous assumptions. In this particular case, promotional people = tools. i.e. items that a person uses to get a job done.

Ya ok, why just quote the word 'tools' then, how should that have been interpreted? I'm not an idiot, Frank.

Deb, the fact that the word "promotional" preceded the word "tools" made it crystal clear as to which definition of the word was applicable, and it certainly wasn't the derogatory meaning.

If that is truly how he meant it, then....my bad. My question is though, why put quotes around the word "tools" if you didn't mean it to be interpreted that way?

Honestly, while I can't put words into Frank's mouth, I think he meant it as a sign that he was pointing out that it had a different meaning than the normal use of the word "tools." Frank?

I put quotes around it for just the distinction Dan outlined...Just goes to show, you can say anything here and it'll get a warped interpretation the minute it gets written to the database.

From your previous heated posts, I guess I interpreted it the wrong way, honest mistake. My apologies.

I used to go visit a friend in the nursing home, but I had to pass by one old lady that would start cussing me out when she'd see me coming down the hall.

Then she'd make me sit down and play a few hands of poker with her. When I'd get ready to leave, she'd glare at me, let me get way down the hall and then scream, "DON'T GET PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!! All the nurses would crack up.

Sorry for the ramble, but I just remembered her when I read this. Cool old gal.

The stories one could tell while working in a nursing home. I was a nursing assistant for 12 years. 9 in a hospital the rest of the time a nursing home. I heard alot of very colorful language.

Okay, i gotta come clean here folks, I called Loras Beer and cleared me. I was actually present at the recording of these new tracks. In fact I was allowed to sing some background vocals on one track in particular.
Afterwards we went out to eat at Del Taco and was discussing what to do with the tracks when they were all done.

Steve at that point said, "I dunno guys, I may or may not do something with them or I just may put them away with all the other songs I have written inside my head the past several years."

Knowing how touch and go Steve can be I played a little reverse psychology on him.

I said, "Steve, I agree. I mean man, what do you have to prove anyway. Lets just take the demo's and throw them off the golden gate bridge, I mean we all were there and know what sweet music it is."

I reached to grab for the demo's he had by his green burrito. He quickly snatched them up and said. I will decide that Wixer Sixer, besides your back up vocal on one track doesn't give you much credibility"

I said no problem Steve as I bit into my 1/2 lb red burrito and took a sip of my large Del taco diet coke. Knowing I had won round one of this long up hill battle. I gently wiped the del taco hot sauce from my mouth with a look of confidence.

Anyway, thats how it went down and it is in Steve's Hands now just like the gals said. He is just toying with the fans and he enjoys it. He said that back on the 1983 world tour some fan mistook him for Geddy Lee. And being he is touchy, he has always wanted to get back at all fans for that 1 fans mistake.

Her name was Linda Rothchildress in case you want to look her up on the net and write her hate mail. She is the reason Steve walked away and continues to toy with the fans.

In fact, he made me pay at Del Taco, told me I had my dues to pay as well.

he is a tough cookie to figure, but with a voice like that...............hell he can afford to.

I also had to pay for the cab fare back to the studio, but after that he said me and him were straight, I was in good with him now.

I'm amazed that Perry is able to stay so discreet on the subject...given that every 'new' venture from Journey is just another attempt to tour his songs and rip-off his voice. Perry could have been really interfering and destructive by giving mean-spirited interviews in the manner of HH or taking the piss out of the band on radio or whatever else. Instead he's kept his silence...so I really don't think there's much to back-up this conspiracy theory.

Oh I don't actually believe it's a conspiracy... I was just remarking on the timing because it sure seems like things coincide. I don't think Perry gives a rat's ass about Journey these days. I am also amazed that he can keep his mouth shut. It's a great way to handle it. BUT- to constantly throw out the possibilty that maybe someday he'll actually DO something just gets old and it's the only thing he ever seems to say. He needs to actually do something with this treasure trove of unreleased stuff instead of constantly talking about it.

it is really scary. if i was sp i think i would hide behind a locked door the rest of my life. some people need to get a freaking life already. do you really have nothing going on that you have to bitch about how someone you don't even know decides to live THEIR life? nit pick every word they or a friend might say? }:C|

But hearing this news through his press agents reeks of bullshit to me...and I'm just fucking sick of the bullshit. I've heard it from the man for 20 fucking years, and I'm just sick of it. 99.99% of rational human beings out there write someone off after a few years of bullshit. Why is it that Perry fans cant do the same?

Until Perry actually contributes music to this dog and pony, his words are no more or less 'words' than the words spewed around here or other sites on the internet. Words are words. either back them up or you just expose yourself as a fraud. Plain and simple.

1) This wasn't a friggin press release. It was Lora and Cyndy's thoughts on HH interview, mentioning that they have heard Perry sing recently. Nothing more, nothing less.

2) Few years of bullshit? Perry, himself, hasn't said a word about putting out new material so not sure where he has to back his words up or be exposed as a fraud?

3) Don't worry about Perry's fans.....we are just fine thanks. You (and SJ  ) are the ones with the issue, if you think he can't sing or isn't doing enough for ya, write him off and move on. :? :P

That last one #3 makes perfect sense. I swear, it's not the "Perry loons" who are obsessed. I only hope Lora & Cyndy still want to post messages here or anywhere! They sure get a lot of disrespect when they do. Sheesh!

No worries. It makes no sense to me why some have such anger around all of this.

Larry, thanks btw. for those videos. I've heard about this show for years and have always been morbidly curious about it. Now I've finally watched it, and was totally shocked to see... Steve Perry! Hey, I was expecting something horrible, and I heard nothing close. Sure, his voice was a little rough, but he still had range and a heck of a lot of voice control. It was Steve Perry!!!

Has anyone considered the fact that maybe the reason they tuned down so much was because it was a tribute to someone who had just passed? This didn't look like the place or time for upbeat pacing.... They didn't even bring their rhythm section.

Maybe people will think I'm deaf, but I thought it was fine. Sure, his voice was rougher, but he performed like a pro IMO... The saddest thing about that video to me was a crowd who wasn't getting into singing along with "Lights". Maybe they grabbed Perry's voice right off the mixing board and we just couldn't hear them. His vocals sounded kinda isolated from the rest of the noise.

I was at that show and a high (literally) percentage of the crowd were Grateful Dead fans. I doubt many of them even knew the words to "Lights." Steve was trying so hard to get the crowd into it, but they were all too stoned to notice or care. Everyone was camped out on the lawn with their blankets and the Deadheads were there days before the concert started. We got there early that day but were all the way back to the mixing board. After Journey's set, it took us almost an hour to walk from where we were standing to the back of the crowd, stepping over coolers, blankets, bodies, etc. I actually had fleas on me by the time I got to the car. It was an amazing day and tribute to Bill Graham, but definitely not the usual Journey concert crowd.

Thats exactly what I thought of it also. Although a little rough since he hadn't been singing for a while, I think he still sounded good..better then most still....and I also think they tuned down more in reference.

It was an amazing day and tribute to Bill Graham, but definitely not the usual Journey concert crowd.

Fleas?! Lora, that must've been a crazy experience - like Woodstock, I imagine. I really like the video of SP trying to get the crowd to sing - his emotion is genuine. (And, he looks so hot in that purple shirt!) :)
