that comment strikes me kinda funny....Jeff is widely known to be one of the good guys in the biz....Both with musicians and fans alike.

There was no indication of anything but a lovefest in LA October 06.

Baltimore in November '06 and Florida in February '07 as well!

And in May 07, at the Virginia show, Neal and JSS and his wife were having cocktails in the bar after dinner like the best of friends... and the next night after the show, JSS and Jon were playing darts together having a ball. No indication whatsoever of what was to come within days... bizarre.

I was at the May show as well, and I couldn't put my finger on it, but things seemed kinda 'off' that night to me. I had invited a friend to the show, who was a MAJOR Journey fan back in the day and was a little disappointed that they didn't kick ass like I'd seen them the previous 3 shows I went to. I didn't see the cohesiveness that I'd seen before. The band members almost seemed to be avoiding each other on stage.

Of course, now we know that there was some shit going down that no one (except Neal & Jon, probably) knew about. Soon after the show we learned that Jeff was getting the cold shoulder that weekend (can't explain the darts, that one confuses me, too~I was actually supposed to go to that bar after the concert with some friends, but wound up having dinner with a few other concert-going friends instead). I'm glad I didn't witness the darts, or I'd be even MORE pissed about it all. My conclusion is that a) Jon was having a bit of a conscience crisis, or b) he was trying to cover up what was to come, because believe me, there were enough big-time JSS fans there that had we known something was afoot, Friga and Fro would've needed body guards.

It just goes to once again show that Neal and Jon are first-class pricks.

If there were no gag order, I would love nothing more, especially recently, to open up. I have no resentment or bitterness anymore but if anyone's gonna sugar coat things to make them appear picture perfect, I don't want to be the one shown in the wrong light. I pride myself in being the best person I can to everyone around me, always, even when the grey clouds are cast. But that's a good one, this new 'revelation' about me, great read!

As funny as this may seem, my aging father once had a very serious health problem due to a yeast infection in his gums. And it wasn't as simple as using some topical solution to clear it up. He went through hell because of other conditions just to get this yeast problem fixed. I saw it firsthand. Yeast isn't just a baking ingredient or a female problem. This one condition he had affected his speech, his diet, and overall health. It was rather ugly.

I did, however, make a few off-colour jokes to him. And I honestly believe a little comic relief helped him. He's a Disabled Veteran (Marines). You could imagine how his psyche was affected too.

Of course it's the start of the beginning of the end.
These guys aint no spring chickens anymore, maybe two more releases and they will bow out anyway.
I tell you what though, they sure have shut a lot of the naysayers up with Revelation.
Gold? Who wouldve thought it? and it will continue to sell by the looks of things. So i don't see Jeff Scott Soto walking over the ashes of Journey, triumphant at all, sorry.
The Revelation (and yeah, very correct title) i see is that the album is indeed a 'Revelation', and is selling incredibly well (far better than expectations), and that Journey are playing to stronger audiences all the time, which is something i seriously reckon would NEVER have happened with ANY other singer fronting the band, and that includes your beloved Mr Soto.

Thats a good point, the amount of grief so many of us got on the official site regarding daring to belive that Augeri was lipping. How many times were people branded troublemakers and out to destroy Journey and Augeri and not true fans? Makes you wonder what they are thinking now

I think he barely started high school, before leaving to tour with Santana. He's definitely not the sharpest tool in the shed. That said, you would hope that the guy would acquire some wisdom, through his life's experience, along the way. Unfortunately, every time Neal opens his pie hole, he really comes across as a complete JACKASS! I realize this guy isn't supposed to be some great orator. I just think someone needs to pull the guy aside and say "Hey, if this 'legacy' that you speak of is truly that important of an issue to you...you should guard it a bit more closely"!

I loved JSS with the band and think they would have had success with him as well. But its pretty hard to knock what they've done considering they have a top 20 album for 6 weeks and the first dozen or so shows are sold out (not because of Heart doing Zeppelin covers either). I hate how it sounded like it went down with JSS (and to a lesser extent with Augeri), but Journey is strong right now.

Hey Rick, obviously you didn't notice that I was responding to the quote before mine, talking about how your boys (who apparently fucking rock! ) treated Jeff in Virginia. I'm not sulking, just contributing. Also, I'm not the only one disgusted by all this. Have you even read this thread? If you don't like what I have to say, don't read it.

I don't care about the Journey of today. Neal has proven once again what an ass he is. If you're okay with that, more power to ya. Me? I just continue to listen to what was and enjoy that.

p.s. That is one sig you will NEVER see from me. But you gave me an idea... :)

I have worked with many older people who only had a second grade education (so hard for me to fathom) because they had to help work on the family farm, etc. I have found these to be some of the wisest people I have ever known. There's a lot to be said for 'the school of hard knocks'. The problem is, some people learn from it, others are rock stars...

I did find that an interesting development. We've shifted from delusional online fans that were either dubbed alcoholics or psychopaths that made up stuff for no reason whatsoever....so a fungal infection.
Mind you, this was just one show Neal talked about.

I'm glad you mentioned that Andrew.. I found that pretty interesting too. Back when the 'lip-sync' allegations were at full steam there seemed some pretty venomous denials of the claims... Agreed he is only referring to one show specifically but it certainly fuels the fire of opinion on the saga and raises more doubt to the accuracy of information that comes out of the Journey camp.

The last I recall, as posted by JSS himself, Jeff was never asked or told to leave, or told anything by the band at all before it happened. Either I missed something, which I know is highly possible, or this is more of Neal's increasingly amusing perception of the world around him.

The sad thing here is that people will likely learn the truth regarding who shot JFK before anyone knows what *really* happened between Augeri, JSS and Journey. I truly believe there's a whole lot more to what's going on inside the band than what was stated by all parties.

The whole "JSS sued us after we told him to leave" thing, as far as my understanding of this is concerned, is a new development and it adds a new dimension to this whole thing. If there was a lawsuit involved, what were the particulars surrounding the lawsuit? Was it Journey refusing to pay JSS for what he contractually earned as a replacement singer? (this wouldn't surprise me in the slightest) or was it Journey, as Neal states, coming to the conclusion that there was a personality issue at bay and changing their mind?

If it's the former, it casts a shadow on Journey...if it's the latter, it shifts the shadow a significantly good bit in the other direction (because JSS himself has stated that he himself would have been perfectly fine with their decission to move on without him if Journey were honest with him about it, so why say something publically yet act differently, legally).

I tell ya this...at this stage, I'm far more confused than anything else....and I suspect most fans would/should feel equally confused. I do believe that Journey could have and should have handled Augeri and JSS far better than they did. I also believe that Augeri was shanghai'ed by certain people. There's no question his voice was fucked up at the time of tapegate. But for Neal to continue to claim ignorance to this and to say that Augeri was the *only* person responsible for tapegate is shameful as well, as it's quite well known that Neal knew about the lipping before it started happening (and was a responsible party in it's execution).

But this latest interview adds in alot of doubt and questioning of what really happened with JSS. The only thing anyone can state for sure, is that there was a serious falling out between JSS and Journey that is more significant than what any of them has stated. That's all we can say, surmise and theorize....

...and anyone claiming to know more, who isn't either a memober of Journey's mgmt or JSS, is lying to either create bullshit or give people the impression they're one of these silly 'I'm in the know' (but really dont know shit) fans (and there's way too many of those here).

Frank, I know you and I have had little swipes at eachother in the past but I gotta tell you, I enjoy and appreciate reading your insights like this. Anytime there's a thread about the "inner" workings of Journey you seem to always have a well-written thought to share. Thanks for taking your time to involve yourself, and enhance (even if just a slight bit) our understanding of this shaaaaady band.

So we learn from this and JSS's comments that JSS sued 'them' and there IS a gagging order.

As far as I know, a gagging order restricts BOTH parties from talking freely about whatever happened.
So, Neal, as a guy being sued by JSS for whatever reason, breaks the gagging order in a magazine interview with a respectable publication.

Either that means Neal hasn't given any thought to the possibility of being sued again for breach of the order,
or he doesn't care.

Many of us get lambasted on here for saying & thinking negative things about Neal, but is there any wonder when he gives us so much to comment upon.
He just does not do himself any favours, does he? What ARE we to think?

I try so hard to think of him as a good guy, but he is fighting me at every turn.

Just a question - because I am not a JSS expert, was Talisman over before the "JSS is the permanent lead singer of Journey" announcement?
Or did JSS close down Talisman because he got the Journey job?

If it was the latter, maybe that would be just cause to take legal action?

He doesn't have to deny it anymore. He just blames the entire thing on Augeri and the rest of them take no responsibility at all. I think Neal's the one with the yeast infection.

As far as Soto....he saved their asses when things got close to imploding. If Friga didn't like him, he wasn't going to say anything while they still needed him, so they could use him and just ditch him later. Tapegate was being discussed on a radio station by two different radio personalities (AM & PM) here. News was starting to travel and they had to do something fast. Enter Soto.

If there is a gag order, Soto should be sending Neal's latest interview to his attorney. Nobody deserves to be gagged and paying for a big mouth more than Neal. He throws shit at every singer they've ever had. I guess it makes him think he's cool, but it just makes him look like a major tool. (hmmm...maybe Soto can put that to music)
