I love how some of you Dems are so overconfident sometimes, something that has been Biden's downfall on more than one occasion. I'm not saying Palin is going to win this debate but even if she does nothing more than hold her own, I'm going to laugh my ass off.

I think the both of 'em will make their debate both comical and entertaining.....Palin willl be exhausted after a week of non-stop preparation and is bound to slip up in a major way, and Biden........will no doubt stick his foot in his mouth a few times.

i'm liking the trend.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls ... cain/#data

mccain seems to be slipping more each day. i'm sure he'll get a boost again, but doubtful it will come from palin. her newness has worn off and i'm wondering what y'all feel about her now.

I actually felt that Obama owned McCain on alot of the foreign policy issues. For a long time, I did not agree with his stance at opening up discussions with adversaries from Iran, North Korea, etc....but I now get what he means by issolationist efforts towards these people actually embolden them. Obama not only clarified himself very well, but he did so in a way that won my support of his view on this...during the actual debate.

That's what a good debate is all about...Obama did nothing but turn me onto some of his points...McCain made me cringe all night.

And I'm a fucking republican, for fucks sake! Ugh!

Its simply hard to get to know someone when the press makes a sport out asking gotcha questions at any interview and then chopping the soundbites to death and growing the little molehill of their own creation into Mount Everest. We have a VP debate this week, lets see

As to the Kathleen Parker inteveriew cited. the NR doesnt force its editors to toe the paty line, like the daily Kos, NY Times, MSNBC. That was one persons opinion. So what? it was one persons opinion, not the conservative movment abandoning

In terms of Palin's future, if Obama wins the election which I expect , Palin will probalby be irrelevant. You will see four new leaders I think on the conservative side- Youll see Eric Cantnor and Paul Ryan in the House, Bobby Jindal from the statehouses. and Petreus on the foreign policy front.

I'd be willing to take a sizeable bet out on the GOP 2012 ticket beign either Petreus / Jindal or Jindal / Petreaus - with both of them trouncing an Obama who has proved too indecisive to protect the country and unable to solve the economic mess.

Gotta love it.
MSNBC has had limited success with one liberal news program and now it is the bane of every Conservative's waking existence.
Where were these complaints when Michael Savage, Joe Scarborough, and Tucker Carlson all had their own news vehicles on the network?
As for the NY Times, which was instrumental in pushing the Iraq War, I see very little uniformity between what Frank Rich publishes and David Brooks' columns.

I think the best metric to judge the winner of the debate will be the polling taking place this weekend, if there is movement one way or the other, you will have your winner.

If nobodies mind was changed and there is no movement, we have a draw.

I know polls this time of year mean next to nothing regarding the eventual outcome, but it is the only "objective" way to measure who is the winner. we'll know soon enough.

as for "gotcha questions" the woman is in a position to be second in command of a very powerful nation, she needs to be asked tough questions and actually answer them. she simply is not ready for this, not her fault.

Looks like winning 2 out of 3 of Ohio, Pennsylvaina and Florida is going to make 1 candidate or the other pretty hard to beat.

While I agree with some of what Palin says, I don't think she's sturdy enough to handle the second most important job in this country.

I don't know anything about the Rick Davis situation, but when queried on it, she looks like a deer caught in headlights.

Um ...no :D substantive issues questions about policy are ok - If I was an anchor I dbe asking questions like?
1- Would you suport a free trade agreement for Columbia and please explain why?
2 Should the US abandon six party talks as a framework for dealing with N Korea and go to single one and one negotiatons and whats your view of that situation given the fact that North Korean missiles could theoretically hit Alaska some day ?
3. If McCain died in office what kind of judges would you put on the supreme court and why would you choose them ?

those kind of questions ought to be asked and scrutinised very closely and agressively Intead plrobably because the likes of Kate Couric are too danm stupid to think that deep you get questions like

"You just mentioned McCain backed regulation of Fannie Mae in 2005. Despite the fact that that is the most important regulation he supported and the most revelevant point, give me specific examples of other regulation he has supported." Effectively trying to trip her up on a fact instead of asking substantive questions over policy. Of course I suppose those type of questions wouldn't be so bad if they didn't play back a mere 10 seconds of the soundbite, as half the people in the word dont care enought to find out anymore than they find out from 30 minutes of nightly news.

Palin had just finished boasting of McCain's record of oversight and regulation - what is wrong with asking for specifics?
The fact that Palin herself raised the point would lead most to think she would at least be knowledgeable on the subject.
And if she isn't, is she merely reciting things by rote?
Judging from the interview, I don't think Palin is mentally equipped to answer any of your much-tougher alternate questions either.

Last night Biden was on every major network, whereas Palin was forbidden from appearaning on any by the McCain camp.
That's not liberal media bias, that's called monday morning buyer's remorse.
