See you want the government to buy your health insurance for you. McCain wants the government to HELP you not give you something for free. Obama wants you to be beholden to the government.

Anyway, I think we should take the name of every democratically elected or "democratically" elected or democratically "elected" President / Prime Minister / King/ Sultan in the world, toss their names into a hat, and pull out one name.

That guy (or gal) gets to be Supreme Executive Overlord of Earth for five years. Whatever he (or she) says is the law. Anyone who opposes his (or her) will gets sent to the World Penal Colony in Cleveland.

ROFLMAO! Cleveland! As a Pittsburgher I think that is VERY funny! As someone who lived in Cleveland I gotta tell you...I find it even funnier!

If the shoe fits wear it...are you going to comment on your messed up statement about Sarah Palin??? Or are you going to act the agrieved soul and pout?

You were WRONG about what she said, and rather than owning up to the error you say "my feelings are hurt" and run.

Oh you gotta love those classy democrats.

McCaskill's edge
I mentioned a few days ago that Claire McCaskill's mild affect masks a bit of a killer, and perhaps the Obama campaign's deftest surrogate on the attack.

But I was still kind of amused by her brief interaction with Mitt Romney in the press file just now.

McCaskill was stepping out of her chair at the end of an MSNBC interview, and Romney was up next. She and a staffer unplugged her various wires, and she handed Romney the earpiece the guests use to hear the host.

"I spit on this before I put it in," she said to Romney, with a sweet smile.

NASHVILLE - The Associated Press got a preview of Barack Obama’s interview with Men’s Health magazine to grace next month’s issue, where the senator admitted bumming a smoke “a couple of times” along the campaign trail. He explained, “I figure, seeing as I’m running for president, I need to cut myself a little slack.”

Cheap fucker even wants the taxpayers to pay for his cigarettes. Typical democrat.

You'll learn pretty quickly that once you have a family, your insurance will go from $1,200.00 a year to about $1,200.00 per month! I suspect that if you're only paying $100.00 per month, your employer is probably picking up about 50% of that bill. Health insurance generally won't bankrupt a single person. It's the "family plans" that cripple most families.

so???

I'm giving a slight edge to obama. he was calm and collected. i thought mccain was a bit condescending when answering the audience question about the economy with his comment about probably not knowing who fannie may was.... but at least he admitted that things were pretty bad and not fundamentally sound

if mccain knows how to get osama bin laden why hasn't he shared this great knowledge with our leaders? country first, right?

Yep... my benefits are split down the middle. Hell of a plan though. Not that I ever will use it unless my arm falls off or something equally catastrophic. :D

Yeah...Nothing special. The most alarming thing to me is that McCain wants the government to buy up all those bad loans. Is he serious??? That is a terrible idea, as bad as anything that Obama is proposing.

I am my employer. What a lot of people simply don't understand is that those who work for larger companies are having a large percentage of that monthly premium picked up by their employer. When someone's employer is paying 50% to 90% of their premium, healthcare seems rather affordable. Most small business owners simply don't have the luxury of asking someone else to pay that percentage of our monthly premiums.

I agree that the debate was boring. I don't think either guy really "won" the debate. As far as all these bad loans...Isn't that supposed to be what is happening with part of the $700 billion bailout, or did I miss something?

Jana wrote:Monker, thank you. I have said so much of what you stated regarding the poor judgment McCain has shown and my fear regarding Sarah Palin in office and have been blasted on this site.

Of course you have had to endure that.

The conservatives on this forum now have to look forward to AT LEAST four years of the most liberal President since LBJ. So, of course they have a lot to lash out about.

Like you, I really respected McCain, but I have lost so much of what I respected about him.

McCain could have, and should have, taken the high road. If he lost, he lost with dignity and honor. Instead, he not only lost, but he lost without his honor. Which, IMO, is his most treasured possesion.

His grandstanding on the economy and suspending his campaign when a week before he said "the fundamentals of the economy were good."

When he did that, I told my wife that it was over. There was no way he would win after pulling a stunt like that. It's one thing to take a stand on Iraq and say, "I'd rather lose an election then lose a war." But, to make it an attention seeking scene is another thing.

I do consider Palin a lot like Bush, a warmonger, among other things.

The worst thing she did was to say she saw the VP in the same way as Cheney. I definitely do not believe we need a Cheney wannabe in office.

And now his negative attacks instead of focusing on the issues.

He has been negative since the RNC. Even during the RNC, which was to be expected.

IMO, he is using the same games used against him in 2000....thinking they always work...Willie Horton, swift boats, he's a liberal, blah, blah, blah. But, again, I never thought that is what people wanted in this election.

That is why people relate to Obama. He talks to people, relating to their issues. That goes a lot further then saying "he pals around with terrorists." Or, "he is for sex education for kindegartners."....and not having ANYTHING to say about yourself.

Regarding the debate, I expect both men to do very well tonight. They are both very accomplished men. It just boils down to the issues that are important to each person watching the debate.

I thought they both did well. Obama was drawn in a bit by McCain's negativity and I think it frustrated him a bit. But, Obama did not have to win. McCain needed the win. McCain performed well. But, it wasn't enough to make up for so many mistakes over the past couple months or so. I'd call it a tie...which benefits Obama cuz the clock is ticking and McCain has very little time to come back.
