Of course you have had to endure that.
The conservatives on this forum now have to look forward to AT LEAST four years of the most liberal President since LBJ. So, of course they have a lot to lash out about.
Like you, I really respected McCain, but I have lost so much of what I respected about him.
McCain could have, and should have, taken the high road. If he lost, he lost with dignity and honor. Instead, he not only lost, but he lost without his honor. Which, IMO, is his most treasured possesion.
His grandstanding on the economy and suspending his campaign when a week before he said "the fundamentals of the economy were good."
When he did that, I told my wife that it was over. There was no way he would win after pulling a stunt like that. It's one thing to take a stand on Iraq and say, "I'd rather lose an election then lose a war." But, to make it an attention seeking scene is another thing.
I do consider Palin a lot like Bush, a warmonger, among other things.
The worst thing she did was to say she saw the VP in the same way as Cheney. I definitely do not believe we need a Cheney wannabe in office.
And now his negative attacks instead of focusing on the issues.
He has been negative since the RNC. Even during the RNC, which was to be expected.
IMO, he is using the same games used against him in 2000....thinking they always work...Willie Horton, swift boats, he's a liberal, blah, blah, blah. But, again, I never thought that is what people wanted in this election.
That is why people relate to Obama. He talks to people, relating to their issues. That goes a lot further then saying "he pals around with terrorists." Or, "he is for sex education for kindegartners."....and not having ANYTHING to say about yourself.
Regarding the debate, I expect both men to do very well tonight. They are both very accomplished men. It just boils down to the issues that are important to each person watching the debate.
I thought they both did well. Obama was drawn in a bit by McCain's negativity and I think it frustrated him a bit. But, Obama did not have to win. McCain needed the win. McCain performed well. But, it wasn't enough to make up for so many mistakes over the past couple months or so. I'd call it a tie...which benefits Obama cuz the clock is ticking and McCain has very little time to come back.
