I see. Well...I guess the US should give back all of our land since Manifest Destiny is much the same thing no?

What's done is done, the best that can be hoped is to reach an age of geo-political realism and to amputate the tentacles of Pax Americana.
Want to revive the Conservative movement?
Stop giving foreign policy speeches that sound like Woodrow Wilson's sunday morning bowel movement.
There's a start.

Stu, you may be right that Israel needs our support to exist....but is that the goal of this country? To provide welfare for other nations that aren't self sufficient?

I'm not a proponent of giving *anyone* aid...really. You've got Obama on national television, complaining about how poor some of us in this country are....yet we pour billions of dollars into other countries....be it israel, african nations, south and central american, etc.

There's a point where our priorities and needs should come first...and I don't know if alligning with a nation that's a hair trigger from lighting off a potential nuclear conflict in the next 2 months is the right thing to do....

Good lord....there was a brief time, not so long ago, when Nashville had some artistic credibility going on.....the past 2-3 years have gotten worse and worse...

...and now they're will to give a guy with zero proven musical ability a record deal, just because he's got some hick cred.

First of all, David, AAPG's own INITIAL statement was the ONLY one among ALL the recognized international agencies that didn't agree with the other 27 that man-made global warming was happening. THEY REVISED THAT initial statement, so you're quoting outdated text.

You're no scientist, Dave. The links and facts I've provided prove global warming is happening, and that it's man-made.

Right, OK. Be my guest. Make sure the "scientists" doing the research are NOT employees of oil conglomerates first; that should significantly reduce the numbers.

Look, it's simple. 95% of the scientists in the world agree global warming is occurring and is at least partially caused by humankind. Nothing you can post will have anywhere near the veracity of the governing bodies that ALL AGREE with that theorem.

And you make sure that the scientists you use aren't getting government funding or grants. That should reduce your numbers to about zero.

Yeah, go figure. These same Iraqi's who had hundreds of thousands of their innocent family members slaughtered by Bush and McCain (so were told by the media and folks on this board) would still support McCain. I also saw how Al-Qaeda wants Bush and Republicans "humiliated", I assume by an Obama landslide.
So by my math that equals.

The Iraqi people for McCain....Al-Qaeda for Obama?

You're being a simpleton here. I did not quote AAPG's document to prove/disprove global warming one way or the other. YOU quoted it to show that the ONLY group still out there that denied it was now no longer denying it. I quoted additional AAPG resources to show that they weren't quite saying what you claimed they were saying. That's all. You were wrong.

I actually agree with you here...but let us look at the reasons why...

Al Qaeda wants to recruit people to it's cause. McCain makes it easier because he will more aggressively persue islamoterrorist organizations...Al Qaeda has successfully convinced the uneducated masses of Muslim believers that this is a war on Islam, which leades to more recruits.

While I don't think Obama will stop persuing them, I do think he will be less aggressive in doing so than McCain will be.

Give it up, Dave. Please.

These researchers aren't being "paid off" to develop their scientifically proven theories. You guys always try to invalidate anything for which you don't have a counterargument. When there is such a massive worldwide consensus, you simply have nothing other than a few rogues employed by the oil industries.

Your inexplicable defense of the Big Right Machine's pathetic attempts to disprove a known fact is quite enlightening, though.

Wow bro...you are a drone...

If they control your money they control you (Taxes)

If they control the energy you use the control you (Global Warming).

If they control what you eat, and how you live your life they control you. (global warming, and taxes)

You just don't even see it.

Step outside the box bro, look around, and see your very freedom is at stake.

It was a GREAT read, but it WAS a work of fiction; he wrote it to illustrate the decline of critical thinking in Western Civilization.

First of all, there are numerous websites (assimilated again by those pesky real scientists) that totally debunk the book. This is the best one:

http://go.ucsusa.org/global_environment ... ageID=1670

Besides, he was slammed by the scientific community for his fallacies and inaccuracies:

This novel received criticism from climate scientists, science journalists and environmental groups for inaccuracies and misleading information. Sixteen of 18 top U.S. climate scientists interviewed by Knight Ridder said the author was bending scientific data and distorting research. Several scientists whose research had been referenced in the novel stated that Crichton had distorted it in the novel.

Peter Doran, leading author of the Nature paper, wrote in the New York Times stating that

"... our results have been misused as “evidence” against global warming by Michael Crichton in his novel “State of Fear”

Myles Allen, Head of the Climate Dynamics Group, Department of Physics, University of Oxford, wrote in Nature in 2005:

"Michael Crichton’s latest blockbuster, State of Fear, is also on the theme of global warming and is likely to mislead the unwary. . . Although this is a work of fiction, Crichton’s use of footnotes and appendices is clearly intended to give an impression of scientific authority."

The Union of Concerned Scientists devote a section of their website to what they describe as misconceptions readers may take away from the book.
Jeffrey Masters, Chief meteorologist for Weather Underground, writes: "Crichton presents an error-filled and distorted version of the Global Warming science, favoring views of the handful of contrarians that attack the consensus science of the IPCC. James Hansen wrote: He (Michael Crichton) doesn’t seem to have the foggiest notion about the science that he writes about.
