On another note, I found Obama's speech last night to be one of the best political speeches that I've ever listened to. I had forgotten what a president should sound like, given the last 8 years of fumbling through sentences!

John From Boston, you were MONEY this entire thread.

Watching Obama's speech last night was jaw-dropping. You can see right away that he turned campaign talk to INSTANTLY forming into the leader of the United States. He stood broad, looked right into the eyes of America and spoke strong passion with strong words. The story about the 106 year old black woman was touching and I'm proud of us that we are able to leap frog racist issues at the time being.

Watching W for 8 years stutter, stumble, and drool all over himself is one thing, but watching Obama's acceptance speech was nothing short of perfection. We now have a president that will take over controls and speak straight forward to the American people, and also the world.

As for Tito.. I always liked the way McCain handled himself, outside the politcal race. (Letterman, talk shows, etc.) But watching him debate over the fate of America was just as harsh up there as W. Good guy yes, leader of the country...no.

Spot on Frank. It's definitely funny, but sad when you come to the realization that this guy was actually elected by the American people TWICE! I realize that not every politician is a great orator, but this is just UGLY! Does anyone know which "desert" he is claiming to have been raised in? Wasn't he raised in Texas?

I'm going to enjoy watching their little girls grow up. I love the way Michelle dresses--not tailored pantsuits or jackets and skirts but kind of girly-girl. I couldn't help thinking that in that dress she had on last night she looked like a black widow, lol.

Well you quoted both me and another person, so I'm not sure who your question is directed at. I did not vote for Obama at all. I also don't think a candidate should be voted for because of his or her ability to deliver a speech. Having said that, I think it's a VERY fair criticism of W that the guy can't put a sentence together. I have always believed that being able to speak in public should be a prerequisite to be a politician.

Sorry...I was asking YoungJRNY...

BTW, George Bush can put a sentence together, but when you speak that much in public, flubs are bound to happen, even to Obama - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEIzEfm6N6Q

I've been following this election '08 for awhile now.. knowing it would be my first vote as an elector. Going into this, and watching Obama beat Hillary, I needed to start to determine each side and what they were for. I said time and time again I am a ABB fan (Anybody but bush) so knowing someone else in charge was a win/win for me.

My aunt, who died this past January (god bless her soul) said back in '03 watch out for this new kid, Barack Obama.. a black man. Ever since then he slowly but surely crept up the ranks of politics.

I sat and listened, through 4 debates. 3 presidential and 1 Vice Presidential. After the stock market hit a low, I was eager to see how each candidate handled themselves.

I viewed it as Obama seemed to handle the situation with more eagerness, and pleaded to us what was happening and what needed to be done. He seemed more serious, and more sincere letting us know how things needed to be changed. The way he will work for the the middle class to build this foundation back up.. starting from the ground and work it's way up. His agenda seemed better to me with tax polices, and health care plans. The economy needs to be back on track and the way Obama presented his policies, it won me over a long time ago after listening to McCain just attack and attack Obama for in-experience. Obama's attack was more convincing that McCain policies will still hold the threshold under Bush and that we won't see no drastic changes that is needed.

Obama's plan seemed fresh, seemed strong, and he himself seemed more willing to put his plan forward than McCain ever pro-posed. As it turned out, millions upon millions of other people, strongly agreed from last nights turnout.

Hope that cleared things up for you bro!

While I agree with you that anyone who speaks a lot in public is guaranteed to fuck up, it's taken to a whole different level with W.! He has NEVER come close to delivering a speech half as eloquent as the one Obama delivered last evening.

Have you noticed he was much better EARLIER in his Presidency and as Gov. of Texas?

I wonder if the pressures of being President did it to him?

Most career politicians/bullshitters are great speakers. That's how they got where they're at. I'm not sure, but to the best of my knowledge Obama has never had one "real" job in his life. He's been prepped for this moment by a team of genius, anti-american scoundrels for the better part of 20 years. They have to be laughing their asses off today. My hat's off to them. I never thought the american public was this stupid.

George Bush kept this country safe from September 12th until today...when most thought another attack was imminent. He's fought a war on terror that now has us at victory level. Iraq will soon be a self-sufficient democracy as well Afghanistan. Libya disarmed and North Korea has decided to negotiate. Memebers of both sides of the aisle led to a banking meltdown that has the economy in peril (though I think we'll evntually be just fine). My complaints against Bush are spending and immigration. How long are both sides going to pander to hispanics for votes by keeping our borders as open as Paris Hilton's legs? Neither party has the balls to stop the inflow of illegal aliens...the vast majority of whom come from Mexico. Hire more border agents and start picking these motherfuckers off like clay pigeons. The influx will stop real fast. I'm sick and fucking tired of everything being in Spanish. I need some Tylenol.

Thanks for your answer. I won't debate that Obama ran a better campaign the McCain, but I strongly disagree that Obama's plans are what's best for America. We shall see who's right.

Also, at least 55,821,650 Americans strongly disagree with Obama... ;)

Stop that shit right now, dude. That's a total load of fucking crap....

It took the camelhumpers 8 years from WTC93 to plan, organize and initiate the attacks on 9/11. It's been 7 years since 9/11....for all anyone knows, the life cycles of successful attacks are 8-9 years. Perhaps other presidents (including big bad Bill) and their intelligence people, through due diligence, got the job done and nothing Bush has done (in excess of what was expected of any prior president) can be tied to "safe harbor."

Bush claiming that he kept the US safe from another subsequent attack is nothing but political posturing. You only have his word to attest to the claim that he stopped another attack(s)...and ironically, he never once made such a claim unless he was looking to cash in on political equity.

That's fear mongering...and the fucking righties have been guilty of it for seven fucking years. The first year, second year...yeah, I'll give it to them. But when they fucking chest thump it seven years after the fact, in an effort to guilt people into voting for them...they need to be pushed out of government so that they are effectively shut the fuck up.
