Phyllis, you were the one pushing the phone call. It went well. Your phone acumen has never been questioned. It's your dog after the mailman routine on here with virtually every poster that's grown old.Blueskies wrote:I'm an Independent, not a Democrat.
Wrong. You're a skank.

Ahhhh....so Stu was lying and threw you under the bus or you lied to Stu and spread tales with no factual bearing by gossip mongering. I haven't done a damn thing to you like Stu said he had "heard"...you just don't like what I say on the board. Thanks for clearing that up....and by doing so....gossiping and lieing on someone...besides how you have talked to me on this board.. it shows even further what a complete ass you are.

from the white house-
"Help get America’s students engaged! nothing wrong with this in my opinion.

There's going to be a LOT of boogers being picked (maybe some eaten) during THAT speach!![]()
I tip my hat to anyone out there who's a teacher. I've subbed in classes several times thoughout the last 10 years, and I'll be spending the entire day tomorrow with every JROTC student in the high school I recruit for. Teenagers (well, kids in general) can be SERIOUS pains in the ass!!!

They tend not to talk back much to me though...I give them this look
and they shut right up.

I'd just pistol whip 'em
The kids will point and laugh at the big ears and be entertained for 5 minutes. "Mommy? What does redistributive justice mean????"

As usual, you took what she said out of context. All the teachers I've known have doled out of their own pockets money for school supplies, class decorations, party supplies, all kinds of stuff.
Pew Charitable Trusts report: In 40 states, public school teachers fail to make as much as workers in comparable professions, such as reporters and insurance underwriters, according to a new report by the Editorial Projects in Education Research Center (EPE). Nationwide, teachers earn only 88 cents for every dollar paid to workers in equivalent jobs.

Lu, if that's all he's doing I have absolutely no problem with it. I don't know much about this, but I heard something on the radio on my way home from yet another 12-hour work day that suggested he was recommending the kids ask themselves something like "what can I do to help the president?". IDK if the radio announcer was politicizing it or BO is politicizing it (or both, or neither) but if he's trying to 'get inside their heads' for political purposes then I think it's totally wrong. Is there paranoia taking place? I'd say that sure there is, but I'd also say that the paranoia is reasonable given the situation we find ourselves in.
Edit to add: I think every president should be considered a role model for children. As the highest leader in the land, the prez is something that all kids aspire to be at some point in their lives. I just want to see the position itself 'advertised' (sorry...lack of a better word right now) and not the politics of R/D and con/lib. You can respect the role without respecting the man, IMO, and that's what I tried to drive home to Dean several months ago when we debated how W was being portrayed.

you're right. anyone going into teaching for the money is a fool, sorryit is a decent living tho. as long as i can keep a roof over our heads, feed our bellies and have a little fun i'm fine. i just want to give my son a good life, simple, but good.
