NFL WEEK 1
Carolina at NY Giants: Carolina finished last season winning 4 out of their last 5. They got rid of longtime starter, interception machine Jake Delhomme and plug in a young guy in Matt Moore to run the QB position. Their running game is still potent and the NFC SOUTH seems to fluxiate every year. Carolina could be a sleeper but the Giants are poised to show their the real team in N.Y and they are out to prove that last season was a fluke, failing to make the playoffs after a 5-0 start. Giants are TOUGH to beat at home, esp a NEW home. Giants by 13.
Atlanta at Pittsburgh: Rough off season for Pittsburgh. Like the Giants, the Steelers, even without Big Ben, are poised to prove that last season was a fluke. They are healthy on defense and return the two all-pro players that make their defense tick in Polamalu and Aaron Smith. Atlanta has the tools and weapons (Ryan, Turner,White, Gonzalez) to light up NFL scoreboard and have an improved defense, but noone comes into Heinz Field and shows the Steelers up defensively. Ryan is only in his 3rd year and never saw a complex defense like Pittsburgh. This could come down to the wire. If Atlanta doesn't respect Dixon, I feel Dixon could make them pay but until they show me that they can hold 4th qrt leads, score in the red-zone and win without Roethliseberger, then I'm saying we lose a close one. They WILL prove me wrong. Atlanta by 2.
Cleveland at Tampa Bay: Pretty much NO talent across the board. Tampa Bay has some years to go in their rebuilding years, esp on defense and Cleveland is in that same process, bringing in interception machine Jake Delhomme from Carolina. Even though this game might smell like turds, Delhomme does offer Cleveland that experience stability and he sure can give them a chance to be in games and possibly pull some out. Cleveland by 3.
Denver at Jacksonville: These are two teams that are just as up in the air as the other. Jacksonville shows no passion but seems to always start strong and tail off at the end. They compete in a TOUGH division and Denver seems to have that same exact formula. McDaniel's has his work cut out for him this season since Denver overachieved last year early and lost their best defensive player in Dummerville, but the Savior might get some snaps this week. Still, Jacksonville seems to start hot and play exceptionally at home. Jax by 7.
Indianapolis at Houston: UPSET: : I'm saying this is FINALLY the year that Houston pops their playoff cherry. They compete in a rough division and will always be chasing Indianpolis, but playing at HOME with the weaponary against a team that they need to go through to reach their goal is going to be tougher than ever, but if they want to be taken serious, they win this game that they normally gag away. They NEED to make a statement here, and that's a tough thing to do against Peyton Manning. Houston by 6.
Miami at Buffalo: Buffalo might just make a push to be THEE worst team in the entire NFL this season. They are just a mess and have no chance to even show up in the AFC EAST. Henne to Marshall could be something special and don't forget that they can run STILL run the best wild-cat in the league. Miami by 17.
Detroit at Chicago: Everyone quickly forgot about the trade last season to aquire Cutler since he has a compleltley miserable season in guiding the Bears to a very bad record. Cutler still has noone to throw to, but Urlacher should bolster up that D that carried Chicago in the past. Detroit will be improved this year and will be a handful for many teams, but on the road playing at Soldier Field could be too much for a young QB in Stafford to handle. Chicago by 10.
Oakland at Tennessee: Intriguing matchup. Tennessee will be an AFC team that will be back in the mix. That 0-6 start to last season had to be the most embarassing start ever to their franchise, but Vince Young quickly came in and won them 9 games. Say what you want about his leadership, but the man flat out has the knack to win. Oakland bringing in Campbell will offer them insurance to compete in the AFC WEST but playing at Tennessee is one of the most hardest places to play and we all know Johnson is going for over 2,000 this season. Tennessee by 10.
Cincinnati at New England: One of the best matchups of the week. I HAVE to give Cincy the slight up, matchup wise judging by their new and improved, stout defense that could swarm and now batter but that off-sets with Wes Welker in the lineup and I bet Tom Brady can't wait to get Welker back in his holster. New England is almost unbeatable at home and I feel Palmer and those two clowns aren't as good as everyone might think. New England by 14.
Arizona at St. Louis: Yawn. Derek Anderson in, Leinart to Houston. The Bradford era begins. Say hello to the wheels on the bus that is Steven Jackson. Hopefully that o-line doesn't get thier young QB killed.
Arizona by 6.
San Francisco at Seattle : San Fran is that one team that I'd love to watch closely this season. Singleterry has really brought that team back to serious and physical football, on BOTH sides of the ball and Alex Smith could have a breakout year. He's got Gore behind him and Vernon Davis, who just signed a big contract, to throw to, to make plays happen. Seattle has a winning forumla bringing in Carrol from USC, but their team doesn't look to make any noise this season. San Fran by 10.
Green Bay at Philadelphia: Until Matt Kolb can prove himself in the league, it's tough looking on the other sidelines to see the new generaton of studs in Aaron Rodgers ready to tear some shit apart. If GB can plug the right players in that 3-4, and if that o-line learns how to protect Rodgers, then the sky is the limit for Green Bay. Rodgers is going to torch everyone he plays, including Philly. GB by 17.
Dallas at Washington : McNabb is questionable and of course, Dallas knows how to play him and vice versa. Washington has a H.O.F coach in Shananhan and WASH could be a wildcard team if they ever take their head out their ass, and that doesn't seem to be happening with the Haynesworth situation. Shannonhan's tenure didn't start too well and it won't get better this week with a Dallas team that could make major noise, esp on defense. Dallas by 8.
MON, SEP 13
Baltimore at NY Jets : Another intriguing matchups of the week. The trash talk for this game speaks for itself. Put up or shut up for BOTH AFC teams that look to make a Super Bowl run. This might be the slug-fest of the year even though Baltimore is a wet wounded dog on defense. Time to put up or shut up for Rex Ryans fat mouth. That N.Y stadium, on Monday Night will be absolutley nuts. Jets by 3.
San Diego at Kansas City: San Diego owns the WEST even though they start out losing every year but seems to win 12 games a season. Phillip Rivers is a player that you can't take lightly and Kansas City is just awful and Matt Cassel doesn't seem to be the long term solution there. This could be an early trap for San Diego since KC is one of the loudest places to play in the NFL, but if San Diego ever wants to get to the Super Bowl then they win in their division at all costs. San Diego by 20.
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?!?!?!!
