I'm not impressed with Wayne Gretzky's career
Gretsky was a great offensively skilled player. That said, he wouldn't have half the points he complied if ANYONE would have ever hit the little fucker. Dude skated around in the NHL completely untouched for 20 freakin' years!

Why not? I am. Nobody has come remotely close since, so that says something about the accomplishment.

It pains me to say this, but I agree with you. Zito had three more wins than Pedro but Zito pitched 30 extra innings for those 3 extra wins. Those is the Zito camp will say that's why he should have won and did win the award. My counter is that Pedro pitched 30 fewer innings but struck out 50 more batters in far fewer innings than Zito did. The other thing that's tough to ignore is that although both guys had great, sub three ERA's, Pedro was a half run lower than Zito and lost one fewer game, while posting an ABSURD 0.27 WHIP (1.15 is considered dominant these days)!

Once again, I agree with you. Although DiMaggio's hitting streak impressed me far more than it impressed you, I'm not sure how a guy who hits .406 doesn't win an MVP and a landslide vote. The greatest thing about Ted Williams is that the final day of the 1941 season, he was hitting .399.91 which got rounded up to .400. The Sox were playing a double-header and his Manager asked him if he wanted to sit out to preserve the unheard of .400 average. Williams not only played both games, but raised his average by 6 points in the process. That would NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER happen with one of today's players. I don't care which fucker it is...he is sitting out to preserve that average. If high average guys like Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs, and George Brett couldn't get close to .400, I don't see it ever happening again. It's a VERY impressive accomplishment.
