You are Boston head Coach. Do you keep Big Z down low on the PP or do you put him and his 100MPH shot back on the point?
Julien is staying with Z down low. i for one think it's kind of dumb, but yet again, i am not an NHL Head Coach and Julien is a very good one.
What are your thoughts on this S2M? If BOS can't score on the PP, they have NO chance.
Thanks in advance. Looking forward to your thoughts Sean, as you were a goalie. I would imagine the 6'9" Z would pose a problem for Bobby Lu, but IMO, he just can't tip the puck like Kesler, Smyth, Holmstrom, etc.
Well...to tell the truth, I've never been any good when being screened. It is just too tough to have to peek around players, and pay attention to the action at the same time....just one errant deflection and I'm toast....
That being said, Luongo used to play exactly like Thomas last year....playing far outside the net. Being 6'3" helps Lu more staying back towards the net, and he's changed that this year....his big frame aids his puck-stopping abilities...Thomas is much smaller, thus likes to come out and cut down the area shooters can see....
Now THAT being said....to your question. I would put Chara back at the point. Lu has a suspect glove, and would definitely have trouble stopping a 105 MPH slapper from the blueline....I'd much rather put a smaller, more agile player down low.....it would aid in better tip opportunities, and also aid in getting cross-check calls....no one's moving Big Z....and that hurts the penalty calls.
