Nice deflection...No one said the scientists themselves receive the trillions, dimwit. All that money goes to fund studies, projects, and the many organizations (many of which are corrupt) that work those studies and projects. So while the scientists doing the actual legwork may not be getting independently wealthy from those funds, the projects they work on do in a major way. Al Gore has basically enriched himself at the expense of the "scientific world" and many of the world's governments that he's duped in to believing faux-science.
BTW...Scientists do not earn piss-poor wages. There are scientists I know who don't bring in a ton of bank but they aren't hurting for it, either.

In fact, there is even overwhelming evidence that most French women only shave their legs every Feburary 29th.
This isn't based on one study - so whether or not some morons at Penn St. fudged some numbers is irrelevant. 32 national science academies, the representative of the world scientific and engineering academies and American association for the advancement of science all are in agreement. You can add a shitload of others too, which constitute basically the whole scientific community. The American chemical society issued the following statement:Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth's climate. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide as well as methane, nitrous oxide and other gases. They are emitted from fossil fuel combustion and a range of industrial and agricultural processes.
The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.
Sorry, man. This isn't even debatable.
How do you suppose we regulate cows and humans from flatulating?!

The continents have always moved, and continues to do so; it's called continental drift. It's called global warming because of the earth's rise in temperature. It's the media that is making it out to be that the scientists are really split on this, but they're not; the consensus is that the rise in temperature comes form human made emission of green gases (deforestation and burning of fossil fuel). Some of it can be attribute to solar activity, sure, but it's undeniable that it's mostly man made.
Increase in sea temperature (water's density depends on its temperature) and deglacing, will be catastrophic for cities like London or for the millions of people living in shore communities in Asia and Africa.
So for next time: stop spreading nonsensical jibberjabber and get your facts straight.

parfait wrote:Fact Finder wrote:The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t. The CERES data published in the August BAMS 09 supplement on 2008 shows there should be even more warming: but the data are surely wrong. Our observing system is inadequate.
There will be always a small part of the scientific community which believes different from the majority, but again; the consensus is simply overwhelming. Believe what you want, seriously.
You still have scientists that believe the earth is 6000 years old - but them believing it doesn't make it right. Get it?

Temperatures in the Arctic have increased over the last 100 years, he agreed, but that’s only because 100 years ago “was the coldest it’s been in a long time.”
* Arctic ice has melted, but ice has grown in Anartica. Between the two, there’s about as much ice as always.
* There are more polar bears now, not fewer. Canada issues 800 bear-hunting permits each year, he pointed out.
* Temperatures may be warmer in Greenland, but scientific experiments with ice fields show “that 4,000 years ago, it was warmer in Greenland than it is today.
Why the consensus of environmental catastrophe? Attention and money.
I'm not a geologist or a physicist, and can't possibly know if your quotes are even true. I'm conveying the fact however, that every god damn major scientific institution and organization in the world is disagreeing with you.
If you think this is some plot or whatever, then fine. That's your prerogative - but believing something simply doesn't make it right.

Of course they disagree with me, they have trillions riding on willing dupes like you believing them so they can keep their jobs. I'll bet you thought Milli Vanilli rocked to.

Now, where would we have been without all these studies, projects and organizations? Fucking nowhere. Infrastructure, cars, machines, medicines, farming and the list goes on, and on, and on and on and on.
And I'll state this again for you; If you want to believe something else than almost every god damn scientific institution and organization, then that's your prerogative. But don't for one second think that it makes you smart, critical or whatever the fuck you think it does. You're just another pretentious conspiracy theorist.
Your anecdotal evidence that you know a scientist that makes a decent pay means absolutely nothing. Scientists make 3000 € less than the EU median salary income, despite having often 5-10 years of education.
The general American's lack of rationality truly is painful at times.

my “facts” are fine. ice has come and gone and fronzen land masses today were nice lush green valleys in their time also. too bad man kind wasn’t around way back then to keep things from freezing, huh?
I’m also fully aware the continents drift. that was kinda my point you seemed to wiff on. thanks for playing though. I also feel we can and should work better with our environment, but al gore can blow me and anyone who’s screaming THE END IS NEAR because of all this are over-reactionary “nutjobs” to me. my point is the planet is changing and has always changed. why THIS TIME is due to evil mankind to me is self-serving for those who want to force extreme views upon you.
if you want to talk about the facts around the story, great. but keep the insults to my own intelligence in check and I’ll be glad to return the courtesy. if you wanna get internet tough and just sound tough, I’ll just move on cause those people are about as useful as tits on a nun.

all good. when he went for insult #2 i just moved on. before growing up, winning online pissing matches used to be how i won my Gold Medals, so being able to out-insult someone is easy. but why? if you're that insecure about how you feel, that ain't my issue. and since i never really got any medals in the mail to shine on up, i realized winning on online insult fest is about as relevant as the french military.

"We have to account for the fact that the ocean basins are actually getting slightly bigger... water volume is expanding," he said, a phenomenon they call glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA).
Taylor calls it tomfoolery.
"There really is no reason to do this other than to advance a political agenda," he said.

"Gatekeepers of our sea level data are manufacturing a fictitious sea level rise that is not occurring," said James M. Taylor, a lawyer who focuses on environmental issues for the Heartland Institute.
