It's seems the NSA is using a "behind the scenes" court (FISA) to wield it's scope of surveillance.

I excluded it because recent events should make it fairly clear that the governments own actions - "spying on us in the name of protecting us", have made it obvious they can't be trusted.

That the NSA and the rest of the government has gone to great lengths to circumvent transparent oversight (secret courts, suspension of Habeas Corpus, indefinite civilian detention) should be obvious to you.. especially given the ever escalating nature of the revelations about what they "say" they are doing, only to have to revise their explanations when the truth is revealed to be far more damning.

The really ironic thing is that what Snowden "leaked" is exactly what whistleblower Russ Tice leaked....... in 2005...

Now we have this secret court (FISA) making fucking law.. ... hey that's Congress job.. I guess you're OK with that too..

Just how far does the knife have to go into your back before you start to worry that maybe the "knife int he back" thing might not be so good for you?

You excluded it because it dicked up your argument. Nothing should ever be leaked when it pertains to national security. Period. The government can absolutely be dealt with, without giving our adversaries damning knowledge. This **** Snowden and people like him need to choke on a chicken bone, today.

I can't believe how many people still support this administration, accept what they do, yet have the stones to attack Snowden, as they do. I guess people are going to just look the other way when our Muslim president declares sharia law and nullifies the constitution of the USA, right?

Contradictory any … stvo? You and Slucy keep harping about separating what Snowden did with the relevations leaked. So how is it that those who voiced condemnation for Snowden means support for Obama?

Plenty of people think Obama is a weak and ineffective POTUS, but Snowden does not get a free pass for revealing classified secrets for all the world to adsorb, and certainly not for running to the “safe” havens of communist countries.

What’s more, you seem to have an axe to grind with Obama. We had a clue to NSA wiretapping and spying which started in the Bush Administration. The fact that Obama may be the worst president ever has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Yes I do. He's a fucking liar who switches religeons, dependent on whatever country he happens to be visitiing or pandering to. He lied about his faith, claiming to be a christian, when running for office, then suddenly, he's a Muslim, when "out there". Snowden gave us important information. Why don't we go arrest all those felons who broke the law to illegally immigrate and receive benefits on our dime. Sick of the bullshit. You wanna hang snowden? Please read my previous post on Snowden where I said he should be praised and is a hero... oh wait..

YOU WON"T FIND IT.

Because I've never said it.

We've known about domestic NSA spying since 2005 thanks to Ron Tice...

Rick wrote:You excluded it because it dicked up your argument. Nothing should ever be leaked when it pertains to national security. Period. Not so.. I excluded it because you want to focus on Snowden's actions, but not the governments. Government apologist much?

The irony is you have a bigger problem with how what Snowden revealed affects the government, instead of how what Sowden revealed the government is doing affects everyday Americans like YOU and me, 100% of the time.

And as I just said to Annie89509:

Please read my previous post on Snowden where I said he should be praised and is a hero... oh wait..

YOU WON"T FIND IT.

Because I've never said it.

Snowden will be prosecuted as he should be... but it STILL does not absolve the government for what they are doing, in clear violation of the Constitution...

The more important issue here is what the government is doing.. not Snowden getting caught and tried.. which the government will make sure happens..

And since you are so anti-whistle blower.. Please tell me what prison Ron Tice or William Binney are currently incarcerated in....

I haven't seen or heard anything about Snowden leaking anything to U.S. adversaries. Where is this information? How would you expect something like the NSA spying to come out? Would you expect a Senator or Congressman to release such information?

Your are not the only one. The problem is there are not enough people paying attention or maybe they just don't care since it has not affected them directly (yet).

I beg to differ. Yes we had a clue during the past administration through the Patriot Act. Something that B.O. who was a Senator at the time spoke out against. Then when running for POTUS told America that he was going to get rid of what the Patriot Act was allowing the government to do. However, once in office he does a 180 and not only embraces it but broadens the scope of the spying through the use of a secret court to change the law. I think people either forget or didn't know that the surveillance during the past administration was limited and focused on communications that were between individuals in the US to individuals in outside countries. So in my opinion B.O. is an important factor in what is going on.

more food for thought...

Stasi Vs The NSA: Compare And Contrast

The German President, Joachim Gauck, concluded in a recent interview, that the NSA was not to be compared with the Stasi, because, [paraphrasing] "it is not like it was with the Stasi, where there exist big filing cabinets in which all our conversations are written down." No, indeed, nothing like that. As OpenDataCity notes, at the NSA, conversation contents are neither written down nor filed - but digitally recorded, saved and can be searched and found within seconds.

In contrast to the Stasi, the NSA can count on new technologies and can therefore collect information in gigantic quantities.

To get the picture, OpenDataCity compared the data volume in this little app: http://apps.opendatacity.de/stasi-vs-nsa/english.html

According to a report by the NPR, the data center of the NSA in Utah will be capable of saving 5 Zettabytes (5 billion Terabyte). Assuming that a filing cabinet with 60 files (30.000 pages of paper) uses up 0,4 m², which would correspond to 120 MB of data, the printed out Utah data center would use up 17 million square kilometers.

Thereby the NSA can capture 1 billion times more data than the Stasi!

Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security chief, to head UC

By Larry Gordon
July 12, 2013, 7:00 a.m.

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-m ... 3979.story

Janet Napolitano, the U.S. secretary of Homeland Security and former governor of Arizona, is being named as the next president of the University of California system, in an unusual choice that brings a national-level politician to a position usually held by an academic, the Times has learned. Her appointment also means the 10-campus system will be headed by a woman for the first time in its 145-year history.

Napolitano’s nomination by a committee of UC regents came after a secretive process that insiders said focused on her early as a high-profile, although untraditional, candidate who has led large public agencies and shown a strong interest in improving education.

UC officials believe that her Cabinet experiences –- which include helping to lead responses to hurricanes and tornadoes and overseeing some anti-terrorism measures -- will help UC administer its federal energy and nuclear weapons labs and aid its federally funded research in medicine and other areas.

“While some may consider her to be an unconventional choice, Secretary Napolitano is without a doubt the right person at the right time to lead this incredible university," Sherry Lansing, the regent and former film industry executive who headed the search committee, said in a statement being released Friday. "She will bring fresh eyes and a new sensibility -- not only to UC, but to all of California. She will stand as a vigorous advocate for faculty, students and staff at a time when great changes in our state, and across the globe, are presenting as many opportunities as challenges.”

Napolitano, who is a Democrat, was appointed by former President Clinton as the U.S. attorney in Arizona and then won elections as state attorney general and twice as governor, a position she held from 2003 to 2009. President Obama then named her to lead Homeland Security, an agency with an annual $60-billion budget and 240,000 employees.

She has been a strong voice in favor of immigration reform that would provide a path to citizenship for those in the country illegally, a stance that has angered some Republicans who contend she has not done enough to secure the nation’s borders.

A source close to Napolitano, who asked not to be identified because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said that Napolitano deliberated for a long time after the executive search firm hired by UC quietly contacted her.

“I think she loves working for President Obama and serving the American people, but at the same time, this is a unique opportunity,” he said. Napolitano knows “UC is probably the premier institution in the country. She is motivated by the fact that being a part of UC, she will be a part of educating future leaders of tomorrow and be part of a state that sets so much of the agenda nationally.”

Napolitano, 55, is no stranger to California colleges since she attended Santa Clara University and was its first woman valedictorian before earning her law degree at University of Virginia. Her father was dean of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, a family connection that UC regents also liked since they oversee medical centers. In Arizona, she helped to enact plans to provide full-day kindergarten and to renovate university buildings, winning fans among educators.

The Napolitano friend insisted that nothing was pushing her out of Washington now, although the Senate’s recently approved compromise plan on immigration faces an uncertain fate in the Republican-controlled House.

The secretary faced some controversy in Congress when critics alleged the Boston Marathon bombings, reportedly perpetrated by ethnic Chechens from Russia who had been granted political asylum, exposed shortcomings in security.

The UC regents are expected to approve her nomination as UC’s 20th president on Thursday during a meeting in San Francisco. Napolitano is expected to take up the UC reins some time in September, officials said.

UC has an annual budget of $24 billion, 230,000 students, 191,000 faculty and staff, five medical centers and three national laboratories.

Her proposed salary has not been released, pending discussions among the regents. But since her Cabinet salary of about $200,000 is about a third of the annual $591,000 that current UC president Mark G. Yudof makes, the regents presumably will be able to avoid a potential furor and not feel pressured to give her a big pay raise over Yudof’s.

Yudof, a former top administrator at state universities in Texas and Minnesota, will step down after five years as UC president in late August, in part due to some health issues. Yudof, who plans to teach law at UC Berkeley, also has said it was a good time to leave as UC’s finances were improving and most tuitions are frozen, thanks to extra state tax revenues that are helping to reverse years of brutal budget cuts and fee hikes.

In an era of tight budgets, public universities are seeking leaders who can bargain as peers with governors and legislators and also impress alumni and parents. Napolitano will deal with Gov. Jerry Brown, who is a UC regent and has been pressing UC to move more quickly into online education and to improve graduation rates.

Robert Powell, the chairman of UC’s systemwide faculty Senate and who consulted on the UC search, said Napolitano stood out among the more than 300 potential candidates. She “has demonstrated an outstanding ability to deal with complex organizations under demanding circumstances,” he said.

Acknowledging that she will be a departure from UC’s traditions of having a president with strong records in campus administration or academic research, he stressed that her political skills will be important. “When she goes to Sacramento, clearly the conversations will be on a different plane,” he said.

As for any possible complaints that UC would be led by a Democratic politician, Powell noted that the regents’ search committee included Republicans who joined in the choice for Napolitano and that she won elections in a Republican state.

A switch from politics and the Cabinet to university leadership is not unheard of. Donna Shalala, secretary of Health and Human Services during the Clinton administration, became chancellor of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is now president of the University of Miami. Former Indiana governor Mitch Daniels now heads Purdue University.

Napolitano, who is unmarried and has no children, underwent a mastectomy for breast cancer in 2000, just weeks before she addressed the Democratic National Convention. She has been mentioned as a possible nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court and as U.S. attorney general

I voted for Reagan, Bush, McCain, and yes...Romney. Obama never seemed genuine to me ... all flash and media-hyped. I didn't like the direction the country was going during his 1st term ... and his 2nd term has been a disaster. But, I am what one'd call a moderate conservative ... not prone to knee-jerk reactions or making hyperbole statements for shock value. Calm down, Stvo! It's not good for your heart. Peace :D

If you look back at one of my earlier posts, I said the same things about Obama being a hypercrite and he (his Admin) "took it to a whole 'nother level." So, no, I didn't forget and do know the facts.

I am(was) not defending Obama... I AM taking (took) Stvo to task for getting so personal . Of course, it's Stvo's prerogative to post anything he wants ... as is mine to make my comments.

This makes me laugh, but it shouldn't. When you fight so hard for something you don't even understand, this is bound to happen. I hate saying this, but my first thought is, "Yeah, well, you kind of deserve it."

Equally hilarious is that the President of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters is James P. Hoffa, son of Jimmy Hoffa...

he better watch what he says.. or the Chicago gangsters will once again make another Hoffa "disappear"...

.and the hits keep coming for this administration... and when the hell is Holder gonna get FIRED??

EXCLUSIVE: Feds admit improper scrutiny of candidate, donor tax records
Justice has declined to prosecute any of the cases
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... nor-tax-r/

A government watchdog has found for the first time that confidential tax records of several political candidates and campaign donors were improperly scrutinized by government officials, but the Justice Department has declined to prosecute any of the cases.

Its investigators also are probing two allegations that the Internal Revenue Service "targeted for audit candidates for public office," the Treasury's inspector general for tax administration, J. Russell George, has privately told Sen. Chuck Grassley.

In a written response to a request by Mr. Grassley, the ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee, Mr. George said a review turned up four cases since 2006 in which unidentified government officials took part in "unauthorized access or disclosure of tax records of political donors or candidates," including one case he described as "willful." In four additional cases, Mr. George said, allegations of improper access of IRS records were not substantiated by the evidence.

Mr. Grassley has asked Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to explain why the Justice Department chose not to prosecute any of the cases. The Iowa Republican told The Washington Times that the IRS "is required to act with neutrality and professionalism, not political bias."

The investigation did not name the government officials who obtained the IRS records improperly, nor did it reveal the identities or political parties of the people whose tax records were compromised. By law, taxpayer records at the IRS are supposed to be confidential.

The disclosures deal another blow to the IRS and the Obama administration, which are still grappling with revelations that IRS agents inappropriately targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status for extraordinarily burdensome scrutiny during President Obama's first term. Amid that furor over the abuse of the agency's powers, the IRS has denied that the tax records of political candidates or donors were improperly accessed.

"The Justice Department should answer completely and not hide behind taxpayer confidentiality laws to avoid accountability for its decision not to prosecute a violation of taxpayer confidentiality laws," Mr. Grassley told The Times. "With the IRS on the hot seat over targeting certain political groups, it's particularly troubling to learn about 'willful unauthorized access' of tax records involving individuals who were candidates for office or political donors. The public needs to know whether the decision not to prosecute these violations was politically motivated and whether the individuals responsible were held accountable in any other way."

A spokesman for the Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment Monday. Mr. Grassley has given Mr. Holder until July 26 to answer his questions.

In a letter July 3, Mr. George told Mr. Grassley that, of the four instances in which tax records were improperly accessed, three cases were determined to be "inadvertent."

"In the fourth case, we presented evidence of a willful unauthorized access to the Department of Justice, but the case was declined for prosecution," Mr. George wrote.

Of the three cases that the inspector general called "inadvertent" disclosures, Mr. George said his office referred one to Justice with a recommendation that no prosecution be brought. He said Justice officials agreed with his office's assessment.

No reason was given for Justice's rejections of prosecutions in the examples cited by Mr. George. In a July 12 letter to Mr. Holder, Mr. Grassley asked whether the attorney general knew about the cases, who in the Justice Department decided against prosecution, and with which parties the "victims" in the cases were affiliated.

"Although this may not be indicative of wide spread targeting, any instance is cause for concern," Mr. Grassley wrote. "Even more alarming, in at least one instance TIGTA referred evidence of 'willful unauthorized access' to the United States Attorney's Office, but criminal prosecution was declined. Decisions such as these directly impact the political process and should be subject to the scrutiny of the American public."

The IRS did not respond to a request for comment on Mr. George's findings.

I think as long as this administration is in power and our government stays as corrupt as it is Holder will be going nowhere. It seems witch hunts are now justifiable too (i.e. Zimmerman).

I used to pass off birthers as wingnuts, but there are more credible people coming forward and Mike Zulo is definitely not an insane person. They want to get their evidence in front of congress, if that is possible, that is if they are not all in on it.
Interesting the way they say the document has been built inside a computer, as he says. I also think this might be one reason Eric Holder seems to be made of teflon. Think anything like this will ever see the light of day in main stream media?
I think everyone should give this an honest, open minded listen. What if it's true?

Yep. Holder's used how much government resources to look into Zimmerman being racist? Yet Holder could find very easily who the racist actually was by simply looking at Martin's text messages leading up to the incident. But that's not the kind racism Holder is interested in.

Holder's a real creep. Giving weapons to thugs during the Fast and Furious and now in the process of trying to take away the rights of American's to Stand Their Ground. Fucking shithead!
