It's kinda great!
IMO, no it's not. It was great back when BE's Backlash was released, The Storm was released, FTLOSM was released, "Beyond the Thunder' was released, Back to the Innocence was released, Dream After Dream being released on CD for the first time, and gems like Just-if-I were found...and of course, the rumors of a Journey reunion - with or without Perry.
That was a fun time to be around; AOL, Prodigy, GEnie, the Journey mailing list, alt.music.journey, and Skylord's forum chatting because there was a TON of relevant things to talk about...and not just drama, though there was some of that, too.

What I think is great is the band is being retooled and Schon is promising new music. I skipped the last 2 tours and had no intention of going this year...and was barely paying attention. After this shakeup, I’ve now bought tickets and am completely re-engaged. The drama off stage and boredom on stage of the last several years is hopefully gone and maybe they’ll have a pulse on stage again. Maybe I can hear some different stuff again.
What I love about Journey is they can change and still sound like Journey. They have done nothing for 8 years. This firing news gives me hope that things are about to improve.
I also think it’s great to see the activity and old names again around here.
Journey was over and now it’s not. I think it’s great.

Well that kind of proves that if it WAS a publicity stunt it is working. I don't really believe it anymore with all the new information that has come out.
But wasn't Schon the one that said they were only going to play the hits on tour? I thought I read that somewhere.
I would be tempted to go myself if it was going to be different. Journey Through Time was cool but never came near me.

Maybe a new dynamic is what this band needs.

Frankie Sullivan used to drop F-bombs at Survivor concerts all of the time, and Jim Peterik didn't like that and he wished that Sullivan would stop doing it. But that doesn't make Survivor a truly "family friendly" band.

If you don't know that Schon had an affair with, and stole, Tareq's wife, then why comment on the current state of Journey? This isn't hard to figure out. Schon's cock was prolly on a shared email account or one of Michaela's old phones lying around the house.Journey/Survivor wrote:Journey are "family friendly" compared to death metal bands or rap "musicians" but they are not truly family friendly.

To quote Jonathan, "...parents were bringing their kids to the shows, so we’ve always been sort of a family-oriented rock act to go see. They knew there wasn’t gonna be any expletive language. We’re not F-bombin’ on the microphone and stuff like that. It’s no Sammy Hagar show."Journey/Survivor wrote:I know of several accounts of how feuding band members have been in fist fights backstage or in other cases almost got in fist fights. You're assuming that Twitter is real life. It's not. Maybe Neal is just a keyboard warrior.Journey/Survivor wrote:And like I mentioned, you can act "family friendly" on stage and still release a naked photo of yourself to the internet. Kids don't use the internet? Also, as previously mentioned, why did Neal immediately threaten to sue every website that posted the image?

I asked you for examples of all of these Journey publicity stunts and the only thing you cited was "the naked picture." I'm the first to point out that Neal and Michaela have been in the press for a variety of things (lame pay-per-view wedding, live nation lawsuit etc). But are these really considered Journey stunts?
The_Noble_Cause wrote:Monker wrote:So, changing; bass, drums, and lead singers (at this point) simply doesn't matter.
Neal has previously posted how Valory was no help when it came to creating new Journey music. Cain is on-record (since Arrival actually) also being tepid about recording new Journey music. So of course it matters when a majority of band members - including the rhythm section - don't want to record.

According to the lawsuit, Jon and Neal are Journey...they don't need the "permission" of the drummer, bassist, and lead singer to record anything. It is THEIR fault you do not get new music, not Ross, Steve Smith, or Arnel.
So, replace the sue happy, whiny bitch, and get a new guitarist and maybe that would change things so the band would want to record.

Just because Cain says that they're "family friendly" doesn't mean that it's true. I'm the king of England. There, see how easy it is!?!? Even if Cain tries to be family friendly it doesn't mean that Schon or the rest of the band are. Peterik wanted to be family friendly in Survivor, Sullivan didn't give a shit and would drop f-bombs on a regular basis, therefore, Survivor were not truly family friendly. Even cain said "sort of family-oriented" as in not completely family-oriented.
What kid is gonna google "Neal Schon naked" or something like that?
I am well aware of all of the publicity stunts that Michaela, her ex husband and Neal have pulled.

If Schon and Cain are the equal co-owners of Journey, then Schon would not have been able to force Cain out of the band. And as we know a year or two back it sure seemed as if Schon was claiming that he was going to force Cain out of the band.
Which is one of the past publicity stunts that I'm referring to, TNC. There was never any intention of forcing Cain out.

I love Arnel and keeping the signature sound and everything, but Neal and Jon seem to go lukewarm on that. They need to make an album that sounds EXACTLY like 1983 or bring in Jeff Scott Soto and make something new sounding. But instead, they have Arnel and want to stretch in new directions.
Also, Gregg Rolie quit the band in 1980 and didn't get a penny. If he got 20% of Journey forever, he would be viewed as a dick. When Perry leaves and gets paid for doing nothing, he is a hero. Now, I feel bad for Gregg.

Or, "Stone In Love", fucking by the rail road tracks.
Or, on "Let it Rock You", during the break down in the middle of the song you can clearly hear Perry say, "Suck on this."
There is even an ROR interview where Neal, Jonathan and Steve go around talking about breast types they like, nice torpedo ones is what Perry says, think.
If Journey were a fucking Disney band, most of us would not be here. Yeah, they didn't go and record nothing but a bunch of perverted bullshit. But, they didn't record a bunch of kidz Bop muzic either.
So, Journey tries to fit in this notch where they are not "Air Supply" but they are not AC/DC either. They try to put one foot in both areas.

Neal certainly expressed his displeasure with Cain loudly over social media. Whether there was "intention or not" is complete conjecture on your part. Cain said that they were not on speaking terms during the tour. I believe him.

All of your examples are decades old. As the band's fans have evolved, so has the band. Yes, like many of their peers, they are considered a family friendly band these days. Get over it.

I never compared them to either band, so I'm really not quite sure what you are talking about.
If you disagree that the band is "family friendly" these days, take it up with Cain/Schon.
