Now, it's also very possible that his voice was hoarse from all the yelling he may have done at the game, which would also explain why his voice sounded the way it did.

THANK YOU

What yelling?
As Deano stated, Perry is notoriously afraid of publicity, why on earth would he draw more attention to himself by screaming in the stands?

Wow. The Chicago White Sox were screaming for Steve Perry and the team. I couldn't believe how talented Perry is after all of these years.

Steve Perry's performance proves he will always be the best lead singer in Journey. I expect a 2006 USA Tour for Steve Perry.

You're full of turtle shit.
I saw him on the news.
He was seated and watching the game.
There was no screaming or in general, rowdy behavior.
The lengths to which you people will stoop to justify's Perry's ruined voice is amazing.

Oh, so a few seconds caught by the cameras because there was a lull in the action on the field is representative of the entire night? I saw a clip of him up rallying the Chisox fans in Houston.

Each time Perry was shown in the stands, he was shown acting civil. The few seconds shown of Perry seated silently are a hell of alot more conclusive than any of your ZERO minutes of Perry's non-existent "hooting and hollering" fest.

ohsherrie wrote::roll: I saw a clip of him up rallying the Chisox fans in Houston.

You have zero credibility. You are the same delluded one that said Perry's laboured last gasps for breath in Chicago sounded "damned good".

Saying that Steve Perry sounded haggard in Chicago is not a stretch by any means. In fact, it is being leanient.

Why? All because you obviously can't defend any of the points you make on this forum?

ohsherrie wrote:None of us needs this inane BS that you're purporting.

What BS?
Perry sounded like ass. ZERO range. Gratingly discordant.

TNC,

I haven't been trying to "make points". I've been trying participate in discussions on the various topics on this board. You're making that impossible though. Ever since the White Sox rally you've disrupted every thread with your antagonistic taunts. If that's your mission, consider it accomplished.

Just look back at this thread.
YOU responded to me.
I didn't preclude you from posting in ANY WAY.
You responded and so naturally, I replied.

I was sitting right next to Steve Perry (12 rows up and 14 seats away!) during the entire game. Whenever the camera panned over to him, he stopped yelling and just sat there, hoping against hope that no one would notice him. As soon as the camera moved away, he began rooting for the team again at the top of his lungs! It's very simple really.

Truth is we all know that Perry's voice isn't what it used to be and that he certainly does not have the same high end that he used to have (in my opinion). However, I cannot imagine anyone flying to Chicago to watch a world series match only to wind up sitting there during the game. It would seem to me that would draw more attention than getting caught up in it.

Another consideration is the microphone that was being used. I'm sure it (or the entire sound system for that matter) was not of the quality that is used for singing in stadiums. In the early days of Journey, Steve favored a Sennheiser (one of the best at the time) with full mixed sound, including reverb. While the mic he was using at the celebration was great for announcing and speaking, the mix was certainly not geared for singing. Imagine how much different he would have sounded if there had been the proper amounts of reverb, as well as highs-midtones-lows in the mix? I'm not saying that it would have been the old Steve Perry who easily hit the notes for "Lay It Down," but he would have sounded much richer than he did. My wife and I just saw Journey a few weeks ago, and you could hear them for what seemed to be at least half a mile away (or more) because of the sound system that was in use. I doubt that you could hear Perry for that distance.

But the bottom line is this...Perry is comfortable enough not to give a rat's rear end what anyone else thinks about his voice and you have to give the man credit for that!

I´m just wondering, how do you all sound with your voice after cheering for your team a whole game? Well I know for myself and I am singer too that my voice cracks up totally after I´ve been to a game with my favorite team. So I´m pretty sure any singer in the whole wide world would sound the way Perry did right after the game or do you think he sat still quietly the whole game? Yeah right!
Give it up folks,or will you still be discussing this in 2030?
Perry was a member of the band for 2 decades and was a part of creating the most classic tunes to be ever recorded,be happy about that instead of throwing some really "low" comments on a hero that has stepped down from the stage.
To be a huge Journey fan,it doesn´t feel too good to see your posts on this forum,I get the same feeling when I´m at a soccer game and hears the fans throwing shitty comments about the away team instead of cheering for their own team.

Kaj, screw off.

Where do you get off telling me, or any other on here what we should or shouldn't do in regards to Journey?

Firstly, Perry wasn't hootin' and yelling at the game..He was almost slumbering....Here is a guy who really wants to be noticed..yeah right.

Secondly, the fact that you use soccer, and even GO to a soccer game, as an analogy .....you lose all credibility right there. Soccer sucks, and the only people who go to those games are either pissed off Mexicans living in the US, or drunken Euro's who like to brawl..

go away....

Right.
And I'm sure if Perry hadn't attended the game he would've sounded just like young Perry circa the Infinity-era.
C'mon, stop being such a pisser.
The guy's increasingly sounded like chaffed ass for years now.

It will be discussed in 2030 in the same way that the Bill Gramm tribute is discussed today.

Whatever excuse is made - he sounded horrible basicaly on international TV...That is the bottom line. Make any excuse you want, THAT is truth.

Perry was a member of the band for 2 decades

Oh, please. He was a member of the band for five years, and took over the band for the 6th and 7th. Then the band didn't exist for ten years...Then he was a member for however long it took to record TBF. 20yrs is a HUGE exageration.

and was a part of creating the most classic tunes to be ever recorded

Uh, I think that is also a huge exageration.

be happy about that instead of throwing some really "low" comments on a hero that has stepped down from the stage.

He hasn't really 'stepped down'...He keeps implying that he will do 'something' again. He seems to enjoy giving his fans the illusion that he still has at least one foot ON the stage.

Just what I thought, kindergarten replies from Monker and Rock´n´Deano.
Well maybe I should take it all back coz I didn´t know you were sitting next to Perry at the game Deano´boy.......in that case :-)
I am a huge fan of this band and all of it´s members and could never in a million years come up with just a tiny bitter thing to say about none of them, too much respect!
Journey rules whether it´s with Perry or not,I guess you should get a life just what Perry said on the fanasylum q&a´s.
I haven´t seen so much personal attacks on a forum on Perry ever,

Monker gave you very cogent and sensible counter-points. Refute them or shut the hell up.
Misnomering them as "kindegarten" is nothing short of a cop-out.

Oh cry me a river. Where was the personal attack? Are you saying we can criticize Perry when he deserves it?

Tell ya what, leave Andrew out of this..this doesn't concern him. Why don't you go over to BackTalk and kiss Perry's ass there.

Anyone on this board knows how much respect I have for Perry the singer.....but for you, a NEW Loon, to blindly cheer on the man, and make excuses is in fact retarded.

Kaj, you are not even close to the fan I am...I don't even know you, but I know that you are full of shit.

Why can't you criticize any of the members? Perry' actions upon his departure were sickening...if that doesn't constitue deserved criticism, then I have no clue what does.

That's like saying that we shouldn't criticize Bush on the war, because he is the president...Horse shit. perry is human, and made a mistake. I have almost forgiven him, but if he were to own up, he would be a man in my eyes.

One of the idiot personal attacks I was thinking of was that someone wished that Perry would break his other hip, don´t know who it was and I don´t care either coz all of you Noble Cause,Monker and Rock´n´Deano are the same to me - wannabe´s that are as much fans as the fuckers for hooligans that uses their fists instead of their heads at games.
And why should I leave Andrew out of this? He´s the one responsible for this forum and let you continue with the shit you´re so good at delivering at all times.
Comparing Perry with Bush and his war was really low and totally misplaced, can we talk musicianship here and leave the politics out of this pleeez!
Why don´t you throw some shit at Schon too? I can give you something to talk about.....or oops, maybe you would be paralyzed and not knowing what to say about your hero in the band?

I said it and I'd say it again. The comment was obviously made tongue in cheek. Perry said something I didn't agree with and so I facetiously lamented "will someone please do the world a favor and crack his other hip."
Again, it was a joke, (albeit a sardonic one), it was still a joke nonetheless.
Don't find it amusing?-not my problem.

I comment fairly on all members. When Augeri (or anyone) has a bad nite I routinely nail him on it. We'd love to hear the dirt you have on Neal.
