The dvd became much better than I originally thought. I have a new much larger and much more audio capable tv now and I was blown away. These guys were and still are MAGIC. The ROR live footage rocks, bad perms and all. Favorite of all the videos has become the live cut of Stone In Love off the Houston show. The energy present there is absolutely palpable. Perry sprints up to the keys and plays and sings bg vox over the Schon outro solo at the end, then runs back down for the finish...Cain on the Gibson playing rythym.....I like it when Perry does the hand-to-the forehead, looking out at the crowd thing...
I'm curious to see what the remastering process does to enhance this footage next week...

Red13JoePa wrote:Just throw the GR Hts DVD in, that'll get the appetite whet without ruining it byu showing you the whole concert in order.
Yes, you need a good tv to make all the difference. Perry does the keys WITH Cain on WCN?, too very cool.

Red13JoeMa, err, Pa...watch that CLOSELY again...
Perry doesn't really play the keys. He puts his hand "over" the ivory" but never plays anything.. Go look again....

the remaining fingers go over the keys...

Sherrie, no cable modem, no dsl and tv sound is crap..
Where do you really live? Fuckin' Somalia?
Red13JoePa wrote:Well, then who's playing the key part over Neal and Cain? You can HEAR it, Dean.
And it's just a simple little key riff....it's not like they had to pipe it in like cowd noise in Anne Arbor.

So, Deano, you are accusing Perry of... gasp... PIANO-SYNCHING?

I'll be able to be more definite about it after I watch the DVD on the big screen, but I'm pretty sure he's at least holding down, and possibly changing the chord at least once, when he's up there with Jon. I can't really say for sure about the time when Jon's playing guitar, but what you say makes sense Joe. The man isn't completely instrumentally inept. It doesn't take Mozart to play a simple set of chords or notes.
Rock'ndeano wrote:Sherrie, I feel a mini cold war coming between us. I criticize the man when I feel it is deserved, but you defend him at all costs. Your writing is so vague. I admire the devotion to the guy, but I find myself shaking my head at some of the "defense" you write.

That is my point. You yourself said it many times. You think of Journey "only" when Perry is singing. That is horseshit. There is a new singer, and frankly, the guy has HUGE balls for even attempting to fill a monsters' shoes.
What do I want to see Steven Perry do? I would love it if he would manage Journey.!

Yes it is!When you have to go to Walmart on dates because there is nothing else to do, yeah, it's bad! LOL
Rock'ndeano wrote:Sherrie, I was joking about rural Virginia. One of the most beautiful states in the nation. The Old Dominion is full of history, and has some really gorgeous areas.
Outside of Washington state, Colorado, California, and maybe North Carolina, IMO, Virginia is a top ten state. Now if you jokers could just learn how to vote! 3.5%, and we have a new leader today, but that's water under the bridge.
[/quote]Colorado is the most beautiful state I've ever visited, but VA does have it's strong points. It's beautiful country, but most of all it's a great place to raise kids, hence my longevity here. I can't help that there are so many morons here, believe me, I've been trying.
ohsherrie wrote:Yes dear, but what does that have to do with what Perry did at the Houston '81 concert?
Oh, ok, Sherrie. EVERY thread here always stays on course. Excuse fucking me.No offense, but that ain't gonna happen darlin'.

Hahaha; neither is Perry ever singing again.

Have no idea on California (having never been there) Virginia is quite nice. As a lifelong Illinoisan...it's got great values...but a pretty boring state in terms of scenery.
