Perry gets paid either way why would he give a sheet.
I don't think he would have the say in weather or not
they are enhancing(I'm being nice) the music.
He is no longer with them, just collects royalties.

Now do you think Perry would attend Journey's concerts?

Now, you have his replacement singer, singing his songs. Then Steve Perry finds out this guy REALLY isnt even singing them live. If this were true Steve P. would say something. Royalities or not in my eyes its toooo much of slam. It would TRULY hurt the name of the band Journey.
For whatever reason its gotta hurt knowing someone else is now singing your songs. If the guy who replaced you really wasnt actually singing them and you knew you would say something.
I have never been divorced but I would compare it this. You agree to a divorce, then you find out something really bad about the guy your ex wife is now married to. If I still cared at all for my ex wife I know I would say something.
Steve Perry still cares about Journey!!!
It is for that very reason I DONT believe it is true!

They are gonna start losing fans if/when this spreads.

Is it possible that Journey "sweetens" the live vocals a bit? Sure. Most hard rock bands do. For Journey, they already have an added assistance with Deen's backing vocals.
Def Leppard uses a lot of tricks live. Instrumentally and vocally there are things going on. Kiss (a former favorite of mine) is a virtual joke. Guitars not plugged in, added backing vocals. In fact, they go so far as to sing over a live soundcheck tape where they knew there were no mistakes.
Yngwie Malmsteen used Joe Lynn Turners vocals on tape during the chorus of Heaven Tonight, after Joe had left the band (which was really weird).
Is Steve Augeri flat out lip synching? - nope. No way. Some occassional tricks, sure, what band doesn't? But he's hit enough "bad" notes on shows that I have seen and have on tape to know that he is singing live for the most part. I just watched the Baltimore DVD from the Generations tour and Wolf Trap from the previous tour and the songs do not match the Casino Rama shows I have from recent years. I could go listen to every single boot that I have but I have no desire to drive myself crazy hearing Ask the Lonely 25 or 30 different times.![]()
For those who think that Steve Perry never had any help live, you're also kidding yourself. Especially if you think you could insert him into Journey now and that he would sound like he did on the Houston Escape show 25 years ago. That's laughable. It's also the show everyone seems to judge his entire live career on because it's the most readily available footage. I've heard many performances where I wasn't satisfied with his vocals, where he flat out rushed songs and didn't sound that great. Doesn't mean he wasn't a fantastic singer though. However some of the idol worship that goes on with him is really embarrasing and downright strange.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents, take it for what you will. It's really a shame to see what goes on between fans of this band sometimes. I'm just happy they still exist and I can hear some new music and catch them live every once in awhile.
Damn, no wonder I don't post very often. As you all were......
Peace out.

Why would they just make Deen-o the lead?

I love Deen.Great voice and stunning drum skills...But,honestly,I can't see him fronting Journey.I don't know why...

4) Why was it Schon was the one who said no to this new lead singer (notice difference of who said what in 3 and 4), cause Schon wanted to keep Augeri but mgmt did not.
Abitaman wrote:5) Why is it this lead singer as you put, as put it way better than PERRY, not singing, since he is under contract with the band.
Abitaman wrote:11) You said the roadies and mgmt said Augeri's voice was so shot, that he could NEVER sing again. And after this cancelled show (in SA?) you said the new vocalist is in. Where is he?
Abitaman wrote:12) I forgot about the Perry part of it...Neal called Perry, asked him to come back (Begged more like it). Perry didn't give an answer for 3 days. They met in a restaurant. I believe you said you saw them, or someone you know said they saw them (could have been Augeri since the casual fan doesn't know). Anyway Perry and Schon met, and Perry flat out said NO, he wants nothing to Journey anymore, NOTHING!! Said his Journey days are over. So why haven't you mentioned that too? You got all these people down on Journey, but thinking now is a good time for Perry to come back, heck you have been leading the Perry comeback. But you have none for since the cancelled show Perry wants nothing to do with Journey, NOTHING!!!
