whocares wrote:DD, I appreciate the fact that you pointed out that Music helps "heal". I'm not getting on ya, just hope you understand that, just saying that musicians and singers, heck entertainers in general, shouldn't be held to too high a regard. You never know when something like what happened when you saw them, will happen.
Music is an extremely powerful "tool", for many reasons, and in many ways. It can either lift you up when you are at your lowest, or take you down when you are at your highest level.
I didn't mean to sound defensive. I agree, I am his role model, but as a kid starting to learn to play the guitar, (which was recently derailed Friday night by a multiple break of his right arm, Damn Skateboards! LOL!) I like to show him what it's all about. I also believe music helps empower people and brings out positive feelings along with great energy. At least for me it makes me feel very good and upbeat. (except when you are gong thru the breakups and every song reminds you of the other, LOL!) He is an awesome kid and I am just trying to build memories with him and let him see some of the geezers from my era! He absolutely loved the Eagles & Van Halen! Next memory will be Aerosmith & The Crue on 9/30/06 God willing! I think sometimes I may overdo it just because I get so damned excited for him! I remember my first concerts and I guess those memories are why I go overboard! I also like to set a positive tone for the experience he is about to have. I didn't tell him of the drunken idiots, fighting, chix etc as I thought we'd try to overlook those! LOL! Unfortunately, (or fortunately on the chix side) he saw it all at the Journey show!
Don't get me wrong, we had a great time being together and were quite entertained by a very nice looking lady who shared our blanket. The music was great and the whole experience was enlightening I am for certain. He had never believed his old dad used to get the ladies and had never heard women tell him his dad was hot! LOL! I think he is still haken up by that but I hope it wasn't too traumatic. Don't all kids think their parents are dorks? LOL!
Anyways, music is just another great way to have life experiences and good times along with the trips to NYC, Disneyworld and the likes! I have however created a concert junkie!
