I really do think an official statement from the Band is overdue on this.

Good point.![]()
I'd just like to know what's happening to him - purely because I am nosey.

As for the topic at hand, I hope they don't compound problems by rushing SA back....you have the luxury of JSS now, at least finish the tour w/ him.

Why do a gig in Chile when you can cancel and earn HUGE $$$ for a luxury private gig...
A Fire Inside wrote:WHY cancel the show in Chile? It's not like Hawaii was the next or same day. They were SIX DAYS APART! It's not like they couldn't have done both. It's not like they couldn't have done the "tapegate" thing in Chile just like they already allegedly been doing since last year. I can see no reason why they had to fake illness to get out of that gig.

That's possible. A LOT of shows in South America are filmed and broadcast on TV, even bands you'd think would be damn near impossible to get permission to air...Guns N' Roses, U2, Oasis, the Stones. I've got 5 or 6 DVD's of U2 shows from South America, and a show the Stones played there in February. I'm not sure why this is, but that might actually be a good guess as to why that show got cancelled.

A Fire Inside wrote:Ok, so considering that... why then did they cancel a couple of days before the show? Why book the gig in the first place if they KNEW they had been using tapes since last year, so they would also have to use them in Chile? The venue could not have said, "BTW, we're taping this" a week before the show. They had to know way in advance... and frankly, I'm inclined to believe that he was on the tail end of being sick because nothing else explains it to me.

Elson said Steve had possibly undergone a lung biopsy, and possibly has rheumatoid arthritis.'
Elson siad Steve is going to another specialist...another opinion.
Until Steve KNOWS what is wrong, there will be no official statement.
As for the Chile/Hawaii thing: The band cancelled Chile stating Steve had pneumonia. (I am not sure that is true, even Pit said it was something worse). Journey probably cancelled the show because of the extent of travelling it would take (definately longer than going to Hawaii) and it was to be televised and streamed. However, Steve could have been on the tail end of the "pneumonia" and felt it was best to give himself a little more time off. Another week or so (I do not recall it being exactly 7 days late) and he would have been iin even better shape AND he would have less travelling to endure.

I would imagine that Steve Augeri's medical status is on a need to know basis...and I as a fan, I might not rank as high up as say, his family and band mates. But hey, some people here might rate higher than me.![]()

While that's true, it's For a U.S. Citizen flying out of the US, the U.S. doesn't care. and frankly neither does Chile. I know Flight rules between the two countries, as I've been there. Coming back to the States is more difficult IF someone is extremely sick, but even someone with Malaria can get back in, if they are a citizen of the U.S. The CDC is very concerned about citizens of other countries oming here sickly though.
