LOVE it when the singer forgets words! it's all about having fun & losing yourself for a few hours. thanks jeff! you are breathing new life into journey... i sound like a broken record... but it's the truth! }=C))

Dead on! A lot of peoiple are forgetting what a "Concert" should be - Fun, Exciting, SPONTANEOUS at times... If you want to hear exact, perfect duplicates of an album, why go? Stay at home and play your cds/albums/cassettes/8tracksJeff isn't gonna hit every not e when he's prowling around the stage like he does; guess what, Perry wasn't dead on everynight either but he was an AWESOME performer. Jeff is brining that excitement and fun back to the shows.

Whoever said they wanted to hear exact perfect duplicates of CDs? It sure wasn't me. Of course Perry wasn't DEAD on every single night with Journey, but most of the time he WAS, or pretty damn fucking close to it. When I hear another boot of JSS, other than the ones I've already heard, and he can hit the notes on a consistant basis, then I'll change my mind. If they ever get out to my neck of the woods again, I'll go see them! So far that's not looking promising. I agree that they need to change the entire setlist to accomodate his vocal range so this won't even be an issue. Dean's voice, only singing the 2 or 3 songs a night, plus the back-up vox, seems to be taking it's toll on him already.

Except for the part where Perry goes off into the stratosphere.Other than that, it's a "low" range tune for Perry, which means anyone with a decent voice could do it.

I saw him Saturday at Shoreline and he was good, but not as strong as Vegas where he blew me away. Vegas was definitely one of the best Journey shows I've ever seen, but different. And yes, I saw shows with SP and many more with SA.
As a sidebar, it's funny how so many of the posters here don't want you to listen to the boots of JSS to make a judgement, yet that is all they used to crucify Augeri.
But, I do recommend that everyone see Jeff at least once. He deserves it.

Good observation regarding the boots. Was Vegas the first show after the break?
Regarding the Auger boot thing, it was used to show that he was using tapes, but other boots were used to show that he couldn't cut it. I've heard Augeri boots that blew me away and I've seen him a few years ago. I haven't heard a Journey/JSS boot yet that has left me thinking that he's the right choice and I've not seen them with Jss. I won't be seeing them this tour.

MCC, You thought Vegas was better, right? Could that be because it was indoors? Shoerline and Concord and Marysville are all outdoors, correct, and Vegas of course was inside.
JSS had said that Red Rocks affected him a bit, due to altitude. I told that dumbfucker to acclimate himself a day before he got there. But did he listen? No, he didn't.

Aaron wrote:Clasicrockldy,
Augeri is a good question. Yes, I guess he did float my boat. I seen Journey with Augeri 9 times. I was really impress in 98 when I seen them in Louisville. Steve A. was obviously uncomfortable but sounded great. Steve A. was really good through 2003 in my opinion. The tapegate deal really sucks and he obviously has been having trouble for some time. I liked the Arrival cd, it was a lot better than TBF but I wasn't into Red13 or Generations much. I think Steve A. is a great guy and was a good singer for several years. Was he Perry or a Perry clone, no. Could he cover the old material, absolutely.
Was Augeri the best choice for Journey's lead, no fuckin way. I seen Journey in '03 in Springfield, IL at the state fair duing the "Under the Radar" tour. The Storm was there performing a free show a couple of hours before Journey at the same fair. The Storm covered a couple of Rolie era Journey tunes and really kicked ass. They sounded better than Journey did that night. I think Chalfant would have been a better choice than Augeri. I also think Hugo would have been a better choice for Journey's lead. In fact, I'd say Hugo would be the best choice. I've heard all of the BS about his looks and so on. The bottom line is Hugo kicks ass as a song writer which is why I'd lean his way. His vocals are great and he can obviously cover the Perry era vocals but his writing is just superb in my opinion. Neal always talks about wanting to rock, well he could take some lessons by listening to the Valentine cd. I'd put it up against Escape any day.
What are your thoughts?

P.S. Props on giving up drinking. How about a Pepsi instead? I gave up chewing 10 years ago but I'm still working on alcohol and cussing.

Rockn'deano wrote:SoulSirkus was NOT allowed to succeed. Yep, that's right. Good ol shit in your pants Azoff restricted SS in favour of letting Journey maintain status.......Stupid fucker.
Rockn'deano wrote:JSS and Neal obviously have that writing magic, that chemistry. Can't you hear it in this boot? Augeri Journey NEVER sounded this fired up..NEVER. Augeri couldn't write for dick, and he proved he couldn't sing for cock either.

Clasicrockldy wrote:Make that a Coca~Cola, Aaron, and you got a deal !
Anyway, I can see where you would want either Chalfant or Hugo. Hugo tho, it would be too creepy for Neal and Co because he also imitates Perry's moves and such, and they are trying to get away from that. I have some Storm songs here on my computer, but I haven't listened to them yet, so I really can't say anything about Chalfant's voice. I have seen some of Hugo's vids, but for some reason, I can't get into him when he is doing Perry. It is just me. So we may agree to disagree there........
I quit drinking cold turkey. No programs, nada. At the time I stopped drinking is when things got really rough for me between 93 and 97.....
Cussing is another thing......... I still do it ! LOLOL !![]()
And for smoking......... I haven't quit yet even tho my 10 year old wants me to.![]()

I'm not sure why you think Soul SirkUS wasn't allowed to succeed but you have the inside track so I'll give you that. And you're right on about Gramps, Journey needs someone with a fuckin brain as management.
I still say Soul SirkUS got a lot of attention with their cd and it didn't do much. It surely got as much attention as Journey have with their last three releases.
Rockn'deano wrote:SoulSirkus was NOT allowed to succeed. Yep, that's right. Good ol shit in your pants Azoff restricted SS in favour of letting Journey maintain status.......Stupid fucker.
Dude were drinking last night? How the fuck would I hear the writing magic of JSS and Neal when all of the songs were written by Schon, Cain and Perry.
However, Augeri could sing and did so quite well for several years.
I have no argument on the tapegate deal, he clearly has struggled for quite sometime. However, Augeri did a great job singing from 98 to 04. He may have lost it but he could sing.
Now, could you explain your complete 180 on this subject? What gives dude? You were balls out against Journey's sound with JSS and then poof, you're their biggest cheerleader. Goddamn, it reminds me of BT for fucks sakes.
I'll tell you what I think. I think you got some free tickets, some back stage passes, and some personal treatment by the band which has swayed your opinion.
You clearly had influence on the band's decision to oust Augeri and you got their attention.
You got some personal treatment and now you're their biggest cheerleader. Am I wrong here?
All I'm asking is for you to set aside the personal attention your recieved and any personal relationships you now have with the band and listen to the music. If you can do this, listen to shows before your personal treatment and after, and honestly say Journey is that much fuckin better I'll kiss your ass the next time you're in Indiana. I've heard the boots before, I seen them live in Indy, and I've heard the boots after Indy and there is no difference in performance in my opinion.
