And the fans don't care. They're happy with the yearly greatest hits tours and the occasional album or EP.
If it were me I'd be looking for some new fans who actually gave a damn.

You know what? It's too late for that. That's the entire point of saying they've jumped the shark...it's all downhill from here. I used that term shortly after JSS was announced.
They had 8yrs with Augeri to do what they could do. They had a great run with him. Now they have to start completely over. At this point, they can't realisticaly do that. No label is going to release another Arrival. Releasing it on their own requires too much resources to properly promote and make it known. Performing it on tour is not what their audience wants...and to alienate them removes their profitablility on tour...which is where the money IS. So, they are stuck with two, maybe three if your lucky, 'new' songs on tour. With JSS, they don't even do that on this tour.
So, IMO, they are at the end of their post-Perry run. They've jumped the shark, and it's all downhill from here. Within five years, I expect Neal to be in another band and Journey to be history...or touring the Styx circuit.
I don't get Ross with the scarf, tho!Lula wrote:jrnyjunky that pic is great!!

A great run with SA? I like SA but I would hardly call what they had with him as a "great" anything. They toured nothing but greatest hits which ALL came prior to SA. They released 2 albums and 1 EP - none of which generated any amount of interest in comparison to anything done prior to SA. Great...? I just don't see it.
They haven't done anything great because they haven't been playing to a great audience. An audience will either make or break you. The current audience is grinding JOURNEY into the pavement. I don't think it's ever too late to save yourself - to walk away from the edge and seek a new frontier. You know - make a move across the Rubicon. Dang - how many more JOURNEYisms do I have to conjure up here?
I won't try to convince you. You're already convinced. I guess it's just a matter of waiting patiently to see what they can do. Dang - those things just keep sneaking in there...

What's up with that? Simple. She knows she can't sing live!! At least give her credit for recognizing her limitations. Sadly, as bad as Paris is, this is nothing different than Ricky Nelson, David and Shaun Cassidy, even William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. There is a market for any celebrity with a substantial fan base. Don't blame the celebrity as much as the labels waving all that green in front of them....

The most disconcerting thing is that the media is legitimazing Paris's "talent", not treating her cd like the William Hung novelty prank gift it truly is.

They should have stuck with it at the beginning, Joe. They had a new singer and with this, the full attention of old and new fans. The interest as to what Soto could do with these songs was there. It was the perfect occasion to get the new material heard.
