I do not know how people accept it as a Journey record. It is foul. "Positive Touch"? OH MY GOD. It is an album full of dire pop and the only reason I thought the title track and "Be Good.." were ok was only in comparison to the rest of the shite on there. A baaaad album...it wouldn't even pass for a Phil Collins album. And he's crap.
On the other hand I think TBF is a fine album. A bit formulaic in places but it's strong. It's a world apart from Raised On Radio which just plain stinks. Even though it's got Perry's voice, he couldn't salvage tripe like "When You Love Somebody". Even typing that song title made me shudder.

That's exactly how I felt the day I bought Arrival...OH MY GOD...etc
Come on Frostbite...Journey have always been a bit 'pop'...."Lights", "LTS", "Anyway You Want it"...let alone the execrable "All The Way"...these are hardly deep cuts from the underground are they?
And I've never understood the criticism that ROR is bland. Sure, it favours keyboards over rhythm guitars but Perry is sweating blood on this record - and some of Schon's solos are superb - esp "BGTY", "IBAWY" and "Suzanne".
I agree with you on TBF though! Yes, it's a bit uninspired in places but overall it was an excellent comeback album - and I loved the way Perry's voice sounded ten years on.
Anyway...we've drifted away from the topic re: Journey making a comeback now (or not), haven't we?
