Deano - you've been totally against Azoff for ages - and rightly so in my opinion - but suddenly he's a good guy and it was Steve Augeri who prevented him from successfully managing the band?
Can you elaborate on this?
Sure. In my opinion, my criticism of Grandpa was right, however, I realized, he had nothing to work with. You ever try to super glue Noah's fucking Ark together? Well, having Augeri as your frontman/ singer put him in the same predicament.
Now he has a smart, sharp, well versed frontman who can flatout bring it. There are no excuses now.
My apologies to Irv. Sorry Irv. Now call me for lunch.

I agree. There was no way Journey could have been successful with Augeri as the frontman - and everything that's happened since 1998 has borne this out.
So I guess the question is...why didn't Azoff try to get Augeri fired after Arrival flopped? And if he did who stood in his way?
Based purely on a outsider's perspective.... it seems that Azoff allowed certain band members too much authority over Journey's affairs, that he has passively tolerated the decline. Is this fair or accurate?
No, Azoff didn't have the star frontman he needed to make Journey a big success in the last eight years - but equally why did he tolerate the situation for so long?
Surely he could have given Schon and Cain an ultimatum? Get a new singer...or find a new manager.
Maybe it was all more complicated than that...but I'm just curious about where the leadership of this band is really coming from.
