a kick ass version even. Then again, he always came across as a misplaced classic Rocker, born after his time.

SUPERB song! I always knew you had great taste! I agree with your point on Fogerty as well. The man still sounds as good to this day singing his old CCR material. Very unique voice that was made for singing rock and roll.

John,

Did you ever hear about John Fogarty getting sued after he became a solo artist because he sounded too much like CCR?

That wasn't quite the case. He was sued for "Old Man Down the Road", which sounds an awful lot like a CCR song. Can't remember which one, though, but they do sound a lot alike from what I remember.

I saw him on Austin City Limits earlier this year, doing a good deal of CCR stuff.

Thanks John. You're right Fogerty really does sound just as good now.......and surprisingly so did Cougar/Mellencamp considering the guy used to smoke 4 packs a day and has had a major heartattack. :)

Oh I love "No Time" and "Misunderstood..." That's a good mix your daughter has there. :D

Thanks Jabber, for the correct spelling of the Iron Butterfly song. Now I can go into my music folder and put the title to the song ! :D

Would you like a little trivia too? It was originally titled, "In The Garden of Eden" but they slurred their words and the lead singer was so drunk when he went to spell it, "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" was what he came up with! The rest, as they say....is history.

Yeah, I heard that, too, and think about it every time I hear the song. Hilarious little twist of fate there.

Yeah, I always thought Perry could do an incredible rendition of that tune.

I agree, I think he could do a good rendition of this one of his too (sorry for the cheesy old video, but always liked this song).

Yeah...Fogerty has always included a whole lot of his CCR stuff in his sets. To my knowledge, the only two hits he had outside of CCR was "The Old Man Down The Road" and "Centerfield". I have a couple of Fogerty DVD concerts, and the material is about 90% CCR, and that's more than okay with me. I think the music of CCR is as classic as classic rock gets! I never did hear the story about him being sued because one of his solo tracks sounded like a CCR track. That's interesting. I have a hunch that he probably won that suit. Why all these bands get into pissing contests with each other, I'll never understand!

I think that suit against Fogerty was from a former management person. I believe I had heard that this "person" owned the rights to CCR's music or some shit like that. I say, how can someone else own someone else's voice? :?

Yeah, it was a pretty fucked up deal. Can you imagine being sued for plagerism...of YOUR OWN FUCKING SONG!?

Only in America! Fogerty actually wrote most of the CCR music, so this is why this suit was even more laughable. Although I don't think Fogerty's voice was in the same league as Perry's...it was certainly every bit as unique. I just can't envision anyone other than him beling out "Fortunate Son", and Tina Turner's version of "Proud Mary" proves my point!
