Why JSS is Better Than SA

Postby aaronproot » Wed Nov 01, 2006 3:40 pm

I am only a casual fan and not as into the band as most of you, but actually I think the opinion of the casual fan should carry more weight than that of the hardcre fans, because hardcores will support an artist no matter what they do and it's the casual fans that fill out the arenas and sell more records.

In my opinion, I think JSS is a great choice to front the band and I'm glad to see Augieri go. Augieri's voice really annoyed me and it sounded like a thin photocopy of Steve Perry's legendary pipes. With JSS fronting them, Journey is a relevant rock band again instead of a lame tribute act with a cheeseball soundalike vocalist.

And who cares if Augieri is a nice guy? All I care about is how good the band sounds in concert and on record and Steve Perry Lite wasn't doing it for me.

Funny, for someone who is a casual fan you sure know quite a bit about 2 singers that most "casual" fans couldnt even name

I'm going to go ahead and swim against the augeri tide too.

I'm definitely more than a "casual" fan, but not when it comes to augeri-era. I am not even casual in that department and the whole thing turned me off. I'm certainly sorry to see the guy have problems with his voice but...time to move on without Rent-A-Steve and see what else Journey has left in it. I won't be completely sold until I hear them recording with JSS and see what that's like, but I'm not going to rip on JSS until I hear him do his own work with Journey. I heard him live this summer and I was intrigued, so let's see where it goes from there.

I'm certainly not a casual fan, but I couldn't have said this any better. My sentiments exactly. We just need a new some new music to prove that Journey really is back.

"Journey’s current lineup, in addition to Cain, Schon and Soto, consists of bassist Ross Valory and drummer Deen Castronovo. Other than Soto, the lineup has been together since 1998. Future plans, Cain says, include a tour of Europe in 2007 and a new album in 2008."

Maybe we will see just how well JSS blends in 2008!

I was also a casual Journey fan until Steve Perry left. I passed on many opportunities to see them in concert because I wasn't interested in Steve Agueri. I just happened to see them this year because they were touring with Def Leppard. I was pleasantly suprised with JSS and hope it continues with him.

Not an 'official' statement, but it was quoted from Jonathan Cain.

Does it really matter now?

We all know what's gonna happen.... SA's out and probably better off where he is... JSS is in there and probably better off where he is too.

All I'm wondering is if Drew will get the announcement out in time for Jeff turnin 33...

YEP, I had the Typo too :)

He will be 41...

That's what I've been saying is so great about his appeal; he can easily connect with several age groups!
... 44 or 41, he's still an old Wookie bastard! :D

I know how old he is, purely because I was at a gig in Liverpool 2 years ago and he was turning 39 that night.

I was trying to be nice for once.
