For once, I find myself actually agreeing with you! I guess there is some wisdom to not respond to someone's posting and just let it fall out of sight. That said, Rich and I have been going back and forth on BT for years, and I've ALWAYS called him out on his antics! Sorry...just the way it is! Also, for the record, I've NEVER tried to change Rich's opinion about ANYTHING! I not an evangelist, so changing a person's opinion has never been remotely important to me. This would be a VERY boring world if we all felt exactly the same. One of the main reasons I stopped posting on the other site was that I simply got tired of reading the same opinions over and over again, because that's all that site allows for! Rich is free to express his opinions, as is everyone else. When he comes here simply to stir the shit, as he was earlier, I will call him out EVERY time. That said, feel free to come to his defense, anytime you wish. Sorry to say it, but he's probably one of the few people in this world who I wouldn't stop and help if he was stuck on the road! I couldn't stand the "H2H" quiz, on the way to the service station

John, I think we've agreed once before this...
If I was somehow giving you the impression that you should NOT take Rich on, or anyone else, my apologies because that wasn't the case. I was simply making observations. It's just really interesting to watch some people become thoroughly unglued (no one in particular because that changes with the thread) over a topic. Call out anyone you want, John (or Sherrie). That's yours to decide.
You know what's funny to me? I've been doing some research and spending some time reading back through the archives here (and on other forums not even related to Journey or music) and here's what I've found: the same opinions are often stated...over and over again. Not just by me on this forum (as some will quickly point out), but by nearly everyone on nearly any forum. It seems to be because most of the "conversations" get stuck in ruts and people wind up posting the same thing. Then someone like Deano comes along and posts something totally outrageous and people generally like it simply because it's outrageous and therefore unique or different from what is normally posted. Because of that, many gravitate toward that type of posting. It's out of the norm and gives them a chance to react to something different.
One of the problems with BT, like you stated, is what can be posted over there and how it can be posted. Because of that, there's not a great deal of creativity, and there are often periods of silence between worthwhile threads. People get really tired of that type of posting because it becomes too namby-pamby and predictable. BUT, give them a thread they can sink their teeth into (and if it becomes fiery and full of anger, that's even better) and the juices REALLY get flowing!

Like I said, people seem to latch onto those because it sparks their creativity and can be a lot of fun for those involved. (Sorry, don't mean to preach - I'm talking to myself just as much as to anyone else.)
Here, the difference is that anyone can say what they want to say as often as they want to say it and just about everyone here DOES. That's neither good, nor bad - I'm just making an observation about what is.
How cool would it be to do a really indepth documentary on the social aspects of posting on Internet forums? I mean, I'm doing a "short" which is almost nearly written now, but that's going to be a bit of a parody. Imagine talking to people the world over - owners of forums and those who post on them - to find out what it's all about for THEM?
