You need to do some serious homework on JSS girly. Only then should you return to post.

My dad tried hard to see if we could stay until I graduated over there, but they said NO, & sent us to Homestead! I don't really remember a whole lot about the area because we weren't even there a whole year, but I do remember we were close to Cutler Ridge Mall! lol :)

Very cool! :D :D
I only went to Southridge for a week tho so I doubt I knew you, plus by 92 I was living in orange grove country. I did go to Cutler Ridge Elem and Middle School tho.
What a small world.. LOL! :D

Yep! I'm not even in the yearbook for SR, I got there after they had taken senior pics, but I had senior pics taken in Japan already (before we knew we had to leave) so I had some, & when I asked if they would just use that, they said NO, because my pic wouldn't "match" the others. Nice huh?? A-holes, lol.

I had some friends that graduated Class of 92, I guess next time we get together I'll have to toss some names in the air and see if you knew them. :D

Most likely I wouldn't, lol. I keep in touch with only 2 people from when I was there, lol. But your friends may know them, they both were there all 4 years. I keep in touch with way more people from when I was overseas than at SR. My class over there was only about 150, at SR it was over 900! lol :)

Not a big Cooke fan, but nonetheless I find KTYLM to be kinda Cookeish, like All The Way vocally.

I always thought that KTYLM sounded very un-Journey-ish in the vocal delivary...and that steve sounded like he was kinda shouting...but definitely never heard any Cooke/Perry in that one either.

Yep, lol! WAY too many people there, lol. And ALL the schools there were that crowded, just amazing. It's getting that way here too now, they're all overcrowded & there's still tons of people moving here, WHY I don't know. Yeah Disney's great & all that, but the rest of Orlando is turning into a huge SHITHOLE, lol. We've even earned a nice ranking on the "Most Dangerous Cities" list! Real nice  lol.

I have done my HOMEWORK! He isn't special, at least not in my opinion. So he's worked with tons of people. Still doesn't make him a star. A true star transcends continents not just their corner of the world.

Where is he played on the radio? He's popular in Europe? Okay, fine. But I live in America. And no, I'm not stupid. There are many acts here that probably aren't known there and vice versa.

I posted because I'm tired of all the "Perry Lash." Seems to me there is a little bit of " flavor of the week" going on. I remember when everyone was so hot to trot over Steve. Then they turned on him. Then they were hot... for SA, and so on. Whenever Jeff's voice gives out, they'll turn on him too.

As to Journey, the whole "tape gate" thing is MADDENING. If in fact this happened, how dare they hang SA out to dry. Anyone who doesn't believe the band wasn't in on it is dreaming or blind. They all have a part in this and they should take responsibility or clear up the rumors so this man's life can go on. And no, I'm not a SA fan.

Andrew, the last time I checked this was a Journey forum. SP was a huge part of their success. We wouldn't even be talking about this band today if it wasn't for him.

We will continue to buy albums and attend concerts like a bunch of saps regardless.
So what difference does it make?

At most, I expect Neal to gradually divulge a little more on Augeri's vocal failings over time.
The same was he entertainingly pisses all over Steve Perry in interviews.

Because they'll be able to go on irregardless and his reputation will be tarnished forever as the man who lipped for Journey. Wrong is wrong. I hope he is compensated since even if he still has a voice left no will dare employ him.

Let me be more specific.
There's is one Cooke-ism that I hear on "All the Way".
It is in the "whoa-oh-oh" right before they tighten the vice around Augeri's change purse and he belts the high note.
That's a patented Same Cooke-ism if I ever heard one.

I won't. I will wait to hear the next CD before I buy it (and hopefully there will be links to samples someplace on the 'Net). I will not attend another concert until Journey decides to play the new music that they produce. It's ridiculous to even produce new music unless they're going to play it in concert like they actually like it.

Yeah, I'm a hanger-on because I'm waiting to see what happens. My days of buying Journey CDs simply because they're Journey CDs are over as are my days of attending Journey concerts simply because Journey is playing. I'm tired of the classic tunes making up the majority of the concert. I actually yawned during the last concert I attended in Marysville.

I'll wait and see.

True, but Augeri's not an idiot either. He may feel that if he says anything now, he jeopardizes any position he has left in Journey. Once the "deal" is done and signed on the dotted line, it may very well include a "let's agree not to talk about it" order.

Personally, I think the entire situation is rather funny. Like many groups out there, it is interesting how many of them wind up being in a place where lawyers are needed and even the courtroom comes into play. LRB has no original members in it, yet the original members are not allowed to call themselves LRB. Three Dog Night members and ex-members had to go to court over being able to use the name TDN. This stuff really gets old after a while, but it happens more times than not and I'm sure we all know that.

Here's a scenario - what if five years or eight years down the road, JSS's voice takes a dive (God FORBID!), what will happen then? Will JSS leave of his own accord? Will there be a legal fight about it? Who the heck knows?

It's just funny that Journey has become the revolving door for lead singers. I know Spinal Tap has already been mentioned, but when I think of Fleischman, Perry, Augeri and now Soto and I can't help but ask "Hey, who's next?" :D

Good point Fred. I agree. Anything Augeri says now, this late, would not help his cause.

Like many groups out there, it is interesting how many of them wind up being in a place where lawyers are needed and even the courtroom comes into play.

Sad, isn't it? That whole Styx legal debacle was way too public & way too sad. It's just sad to think that a bunch of guys (or gals, as the case may be) who once got together to make a dream come true end up hating one another & fighting in court. But it's like any business or partnership, including marriage. I've had friends who I thought adored each other, then they get divorced & it's nasty, nasty, nasty.

what if five years or eight years down the road, JSS's voice takes a dive (God FORBID!), what will happen then? Will JSS leave of his own accord?

I really hope that doesn't happen to Jeff. But if it does, I feel really confident in saying he wouldn't lip. That's just not the kind of guy he is. I don't know how it would play out exactly. I think he'd step down. I think anyone who has this issue in any band is entitled to a settlement. I just think Augeri should have stepped down gracefully. I don't care what management or anyone else said. It was always his decision to do so. If he had, I think we would all think of him a lot more fondly. Sure we've all made mistakes in our lives. But his was a very public one.

Fleischman, Perry, Augeri and now Soto and I can't help but ask "Hey, who's next?" :D

I don't think Fleischman counts. If u count him, u need to count Rolie as he was far more significant to Journey than Fleischman. If Jeff can give these guys 8 yrs & I hope he does, I think they might all retire at that point. Who knows tho? I'm just glad Jeff was available to bail them out this yr & most of all, that he was willing. I look forward to the future.

Maybe this time they won't be so short-sighted as to make him an equal member.
Also, people who know Jeff say the guy would never resort to lipping.

If Jeff starts having major problems and refuses to bow out with class, somone on here will inevitably re-start the blog.

Re: Jeff - I wasn't trying to imply or state that he would even THINK of lipping. What I simply meant was that IF his voice ever started to go and he couldn't continue as Journey's front man, a new lead singer would be introduced...provided Journey was still around. The whole thing with their lead singers simply reminds me of Spinal Tap and their the new drummer scenario every time they turned around. That's all I'm saying...nothing more...nothing implied...no hidden meaning. Just a funny thought (to me) in my head and that's it. :)

Heartfelt post! Thank you! Truth is as you said.....

So, according to scarygirl's logic, every true star with amazing talent will obviously get the recognition they deserve and achieve major US success within a few years of trying to make it in the music business, and only those deemed "worthy" by the US media machine are the real deal...sorry, it doesn't work like that.

Besides, I'd much rather be well respected by the members of Queen, Journey, and a dozen other talented megastars, have been asked to collaborate with dozens more, and have staying power in the fickle European and Asian markets, than have the rubber stamp of the US industry - the same people that told me Britney Spears and Nickelback are "talented".

Sorry, but that logic really is "scary".
