At the next concert you don't play Open Arms, but rather Lights (just an example). Geographically speaking, this will reward folks who see several shows that are near in distance to each other. They won't hear the SAME setlist 2 or 3 shows in a row. Loyal fans get to hear ALL of Journey's "Dirty Dozen" this way...just not all at the same show. Rotate several ballads and rotate several rockers. It just seems to make the most sense. This way there is also the anticipation of "Hey, I wonder what songs they'll play tonight?" THAT'S something I haven't been able to say in a long time!!!

I don't think it translates well live for some reason.

I'm with ya on this one.

I agree completely. While I know Journey will always have to play the standards, if they group them together in medleys, then there's more of a chance that people will get the idea that "Hey folks, we love the classics, but we're moving on!"

I LOVE that song, and Deen can really bring it!!! I'd give up "Open Arms" for that one any day!!!!

Not sure since JSS, but in the past they would play it a hundred miles an hour
and that just kills the tune live.
