EXACTLY what is it about Jeff that has caused you to have more of an open mind about Journey and it's prospects for the future now?
Just curious...
MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
John D.
It is indeed interesting how SP's die hard fans have come to embrace Jeff as the new lead singer of Journey, considering that for these fans no one could have ever replaced SP.
Well, that's the truth - Perry will forever remain THE voice of Journey, but a true Journey fan is an open minded person who is not led by fanaticism.
I personally am in this category of fans, because I am driven by my keen sense for music, not by some inflexible religious-like sentiment towards the changes in Journey.
I accept changes and I welcome them wholeheartedly especially when they improve something that wasn't right.
With that being said,I can answer your Q,John,by comparing SA with JSS.
IMO Jeff is lifting Journey up from the dust.I was really saddened to see this once great band reduced to a non-prolific act.
This happened mostly because Augeri didn't have enough chemistry with the rest of the band and viceversa.Bad marriage.
I just knew that someday it will end up with a divorce, and frankly I hope this will make the SP fanatics understand that the split didn't happen because of SP's *ghost* haunting the band, but because the lack of that much needed kinship between SA and Journey.
Also,I strongly believe that the split would've happened with or without Tapegate. The exposure of the fraud did nothing but speed up an already agonizing death.
Why do I like Jeff?
Because he is a genuine artist and I sense that he is in the same breed as Steve Perry.Passion, soul, hard work, inspiration, commitment. No fakery,no shalowness,no compromise.Jeff is all that.
He has what Journey needs.
I have seen JSS fronting Journey live, and I know what he is capable of.I can honestly say that Journey has a future.
