We have a "cold" front today and it's getting into the 30s tonight. Nothing like multiple feet of snow... I'm with Andrew - we had a little bit of ice about a month ago and everything shut down. This Friday is a make up day at school because of it - of course, I'll be missing that anyway.

So far over 3 inches blowin crazy.
Not in my best form for good thoughts now.
Cool beans that we didn't have to take the kids
sledding as it was ass sealing cold, but a sad night
here as I lost a good friend and family member.
I'm feeling twice as numb this evening Lot.

 Ms M, wonderfully worded for this frigid time.
Your words of well wishes were appreciated as well.

Wombat, thank you Sir.
Always nice to see kind words when in need
of emotional support.

This storm is entering New England and the remainder is still in Illinois. This is our 2nd day in Cincinnati with snow then ice, then snow then ice. 122,000 homes have no electric. A tree snapped down the street from the ice and that is happening all over and taking down power lines. A 9 yr old girl was killed by a breaking branch. Now on top of the ice we expect 3 more in of snow. The temps will by 20 and a low of 6 with 35 mile hr winds. Salt won't be effective.Above Interstate 70 through Columbus, Indianapolis and mid Illinois had 4 ft drifts of snow with blizzaed conditions.Good luck to those in NY state. We have another storm for Sat & Sun which they are not saying yet how much of what. This reminds me of 77-78 .

My deepest sympathies Moon Beam.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

The coldest day EVER in history for my state of Tasmania was something like -15C in the alpine regions once...that's 5F. Normal winter days here are around 45-55F.

Warmest ever here I believe was around 42C (107F)

Hottest ever day for Australia was 55C (130F) in the desert or 47C in one of the major cities (117).

Temps here in the 80s and 90s thru this weekend ;)

Oh man this is sadder than the sleety snow a fallin.

The crying I've done tonight......I did not need to read
of that young girl, truly I didn't.
Not upset with you for posting it though, makes me ever
so grateful for the breaths I've been given today.
Thank you muchly, really.
May you be warm, well and have what you need.

Hey, ohsosoto and lady grinning soul - you're both in Cape, huh? Do you know each other? I go down there every so often 'cause we have an office there, and also, my parents live in Jackson. Glad you didn't get much of the bad weather. My office finally closed and wouldn't you know it, right in front of the building I tried to stop at a stop light and slid about 25 feet into the back of some little car, which then slid into the car in front of it. I HATE snow!

Yes, we know each other--no one else would go to and appreciate the concerts we do. We both live in Jackson. We didn't get anything but cold, nasty wind. I heard STL got some nasty weather. My sister said South County mall was closed yesterday and her son didn't have school either. I'm ready for spring....

Wow, South County was closed? That's in my neck of the woods. I've never heard of it closing before. I live in Oakville, if that means anything to you. Well, the next time Journey rolls through town, we'll have to meet up and say hey at the show.

My sister lives in Oakville also. You might be neighbors! That place is so small. Were you born and raised there? People who are born and raised there never leave--never go into the city.

Well, I wasn't born there, but I was raised there. I was born in Evansville, Indiana, and my Dad moved us here when I was 5 - he got a job with Anheuser-Busch. Lived in Oakville ever since. Married an Oakville girl. My kids are going to Oakville schools, etc. Can I ask your sister's name? Who knows - I may know her!

...and you're right, I have no desire to live outside Oakville or (shudder) in the city, even though I work right downtown.

My sister has lived there for maybe 6-7 years. How old are you? Did you go to Oakville High? I know several 30-40 somethings that live there (although, may not be the kind of people you would want to know!)

I did go to Oakville High, yes. I'm 33, graduated in 1991. You think we might know anyone in common?

Not sure if I know anyone that age. Most of the people I know are older than me. Do you know any Hartmanns? I think the name of the street they lived on is Rockview (?). My sister lives on Ringer.

I don't think I know any Hartmann's except my high school driver's ed teacher, who would be about 75 by now, I think. I'm not familiar with Rockview, but Ringer, most definitely.
