Everyone sounds on top of their game, Jeff. You know when was this recorded?

My Media Player says it was Fresno, CA Oct. 11, 2006.

Yup!
Sung, sealed & delivered!

And just an aside- I saw Jeff for the first time in West Palm Beach. That was what- His 3rd or 4th night at the helm?? And while he has improved greatly ( having seen proof of that in Orlando in November! 8) ) he did a great job in WPB. No singer is 100% every night. That's just not humanly possible.

He does better than most though! :D

Yep,end of story!

If this stunning performance won't convince everyone that you can own the songs from the first note to the last,I don't know what will!

Thank you Jeff. 8)

I am just curious what people were expecting from him? I mean - this was a big undertaking for someone to fly in and take over for the lead singer. Knowing full well that the fans were expecting to see Steve A. - and when those fans didn't see Steve A. that there was gonna be some pissed off people. And that is totally to be expected.

JSS didn't have any rehearsal time with the band, nor was his prepared to do this (to my understanding). So when he doesn't hit the notes perfectly in the beginning of this huge undertaking - I believe he should be given a little slack. I've seen shows where the regular lead singer doesn't hit the notes.

I'm only pointing out some things that I think people need to consider before ripping into his performance.

I expereinced once (ok on a ENORMOUSLY SMALLER SCALE) but someone was sick and I had to jump into a performance and had 3 reherasals (this was a play not music) and I was SHITTING in my pants! So I can imagine what he was going through.

If you hear him now and still don't like the way he sounds, thats cool. But I'm just saying lets give him the opportunity to get comfy and really know the songs.

I'd say after seeing them in Florida a couple of weeks ago, and Orlando HOB especially, that JSS IS comfy and knows what he's doing

I think Jeff's task was harder than any other singer's ever because he had to fill the shoes of 2 singers!!
IMO,there were/are 3 categories of "unsatisfied customers" who say the following:

1."He is not Steve Perry"
2."He is not Steve Augeri"
3."If he doesn't hit all the original high notes he can't sing for Journey"

Well,guess what?
He is Jeff Scot Soto, and I think he does a hell of a job in this NEW Journey era!
There's plenty of proof to back this up! :)

The HOB show was, by far, the best performance I have heard from Jeff. Unbelievable. He has really hit his stride and the band was completely on. For those of you attending the shows in Europe, get ready........you are going to be blown away by what Jeff is bringing to the band!

JSS, just sing the goddamn songs. Why are you explaining yourself anyway when you don't have to? I get satisfaction just knowing the song is going to be sung, let alone worrying about if you "got it" to hit high notes or have the "sound." That shit doesn't matter anymore, do what you do, and don't worry about what us assholes think

BTW, does anyone have a clip of JSS singing Faith in the Heartland? I'm bustin to see it

Filling someone elses shoes, especially BIG shoes, takes alot of guts and a set of balls. JSS did just fine. No... he's not Perry... NO... he's not Augeri... BUT... he takes each and every song and puts 100% into it and makes it his own and that's all anyone could ever ask.

I was at the Minneapolis show about 2 weeks after he took over and I was blown away by his stage presence and performance. I heard MANY compliments from people during and after the show as well...

Kim dear :D

I don't know why people are like this. I guess it's just human nature not to like change. And I can understand people being upset about SA not being there. After all, at least when I bought my tickets to WPB, SA was still lead singer. And I can also say I heard ( from the Journey fans that were sitting/talking around me) that they were willing to give Jeff a chance. Goodness knows, they were all on their feet singing!

I just know what I stated (JMVHO mind). Jeff was VERY GOOD in WPB.

HE KICKED ASS in Orlando!

Don't see it as explaining myself as much as just hanging out with you guys here & joining in on the conversations every once in a while...I also see it as a personal connection in the sense of when I do interviews, most of the things I chime in about are things I wish people would discuss or ask during an interview, it's obviously what people wanna know/read about as opposed to the same generic stuff I get thrown at me.

I personally dig it, makes me wonder why more artists don't do it more often, connecting with people IS what it's all about, at least for me anyway. Sure there'll be assholes who don't get it or don't want to but as you can see from the many replies, there are others who are appreciative of the introspect.

Agreed, I think some of SP's songs on the FTLSM tour were the same, and I enjoyed the hell out of them, so most people I don't think will even notice. But then again it's never been about the 'range' for me, more about the delivery, soul, passion and energy of Journey's music.

Yea, definatly feel yah. You don't see what you do anywhere else, hell I've never seen it at all. Hell, when I first got here I thought someone was pretendin' to be you and I started fuckin around then realized ...oh shit. haha. It's pretty cool to interact and get the real facts of what you're thinking and us fans appreciate that more than anything else. Keep rockin.

He'll answer if we word it differently:

Jeff, your voice would SUCK on Out of Harm's Way. Same for FITH. I have some boots of your first two shows, and it's apparent that you just aren't right for Journey.

That oughta do it.
